First time grower - Looking for a few tips

I'm about to start a 3x3 or 4x4 tent in my bedroom, was wondering what would be optimal? Some say 400w in the 3x3 others say same but 4x4 with room to put other applications around it? Is 600w too much for a 3x3 or would I be fine as long as I had AC? Any advice helpful, thanks!

I would go for a 600 watt dimmable ballast, that way you have options. I suspect that a 3x3 with a 600 watt HID would need to be in a room with a temp around 70-75 to keep grow temps 85 and below. Just a guess though.
