Backers of a possible 2016 constitutional amendment to legalize medical marijuana continued to raise and spend relatively little money in March, according to a newly filed financial report.

"People United for Medical Marijuana," a political committee led by prominent Orlando attorney John Morgan, raised $15,931 during the month, while spending $10,666.

During the first three months of the year, the committee raised $40,382 and spent $29,863, according to the report, posted on the state Division of Elections website.

The committee led an effort to pass a medical-marijuana amendment in 2014 but fell short.

To get on the 2016 ballot, it would need to submit 683,149 valid petition signatures to the state.

As of Monday morning, it had not submitted any valid petition signatures, the Division of Elections website said.
