Freezer seeds

Hello all,
A buddy of mine was chatten the other day and mentioned putting his seeds in the freezer for a day before he sprouts them. His reasoning was that the seed needed to know winter happened and now it was spring time. Anybody heard of this technique? I'd love to hear more. Thanks

What if the seeds come from some where it doesn't freeze? I think your was high.
