Fudo’s Comparison Grow: Ice Cream Cake, Organic vs Chem, 1800W Of Led & Cobs

Hello again everybody! I wasn’t expecting to do another grow or journal for several months. But, since cannabis is now legal here, a couple of good buddies went crazy and started throwing up grow rooms. So I’m co-opting a few square feet for a little experiment.

I’ll be growing hopefully 1 Acapulco gold, 1 Kali China, 1 Alaskan Purple and 1 Ice cream cake clone. All will be in my organic super soil. All the other plants in the room will be IceCream cake clones with chem nutes. They just harvested the ice cream cake and it looks beautiful. I’m eager to see how my soil compares.

I got started this morning. Made up my 3 solo cups putting an inch or so of super soil in the bottoms. Went with clear cups this time so I can watch the roots.

I dropped the seeds in water to soak for 12 hrs. I’ll put them in towels when I get home tonight. It’s exactly 73F in the dome, I’m skipping the water heater this time, it’s a little to warm. Got everything cleaned up and ready to go. Tomorrow I’ll build the pots. Good to be back, I was dying of boredom. :yummy::blunt:

I got some more work done this morning. I needed more FFOF to finish all the pots so I took a trip to the store. While I was there I picked up some Recharge. I’m going to try like hell not to use anything else or as little as possible anyway.

To accomplish this, I filled the bottom 3rd of the bags with my well cooked super soil. I then re-amended very lightly with everything I believe it was lacking last time. It’s been fully re-amended months ago, just giving it a sprinkle. I’m only building 3 till I see how many Seeds pop.

Next, I filled the last 2/3 with FFOF cut with perlite and one handful each of worm castings and lobster compost. I hope that does the trick. Have a great day. :hookah:

I came home from work to a pleasant surprise. All 3 popped! I’m really excited about the Kali China. I tried 2 last time and neither made it. I blamed it on the heat but apparently I got it right this time. The Alaskan Purple is the longest just like last time. Those are some robust seeds and I have one left. She might end up outside, I hear they get huge outdoors.

The temperature in the dome was only 71F so I threw my oil heater under the table. It’s just starting to warm up a bit outside but it’s still pretty cold in the basement.

I got them all tucked in their cups and under their Mars 96. When I plant my seeds, I’ve been digging a shallower hole then backfilling more over the top. I find it allows me to get the root where I want it without flipping it over or dropping it too deep. Had issues with that before. Now we just hope they make it. :hookah:

Good morning! No signs of life, but wasn’t expecting any yet. When I woke up this morning the humidity was 99% and temperature was 82F. I turned the heater off and took the dome off for a little while. I want it 78F at the bottom of the cups and 82% humidity when they

break ground. That Kali China makes me nervous. Trying to eliminate excuses. Have a great day! :blunt:

Good evening. The Acapulco and Alaskan came up this morning but no Kali, so I thought here we go again, another Kali dud. On my way out the door to play cards I took another peek and low and behold the Kali made it. :woohoo:

Wowza that is some beautiful bud!
Thanks Shed I’ll pass it on. That wasn’t my doing though but it’s what gave me the idea. I want to see how my soil measures up. That shit is dank! Not my cup of tea though. It’s 75% indica I believe, and put me right to sleep.

Good morning! Girls are doing great. The Kali was a little on the yellow side but she’s greening up nicely. I think the soil is a touch hot for seedlings but they’re growing quickly. The cups are nice and heavy so I won’t be watering for awhile. I’m just pouring a little water in the bottom of the tray to keep the humidity up. Cruise control...I hope. Have a great day! :hookah:
