i have read many posts and followed along with quite a few journals.
i joined 420 because of the responses ive seen people give to NOVICE growers.
i am NOT one of those spontaneous growers, that thinks they can grow because theyve read a few posts and feel ready. It took me a while to reassure myself. reassuring meaning, i wanted to make sure my MOM couldnt find out.
i also wanted to make sure i had proper funding for this project.
i stay home, take care of my lizards, my pitbull, and make music when i can.
i plan on growing from this day forward, and only for personal use, and hopefully i can yield an unexpected amount to enjoy with the rest of my homies.
STRAINS:
1. OG Kush - i was breakin up some dank, and a little seed dropped.
2. Grape ape - this was some reggie i picked up in a local dispensary, a couple seeds dropped from this batch.
3. Incredible Hulk - i had about 10 seeds from multiple batches from the same grower. supposed to be a 70/30 indica.
LIGHTS:
NATURAL SUNLIGHT. i see the sun hit my balcony from around 9-930 a.m to about 6-630 p.m i have read a couple posts where they say you can give your plants too much sunlight and mess things up. how the leaves would dry up quicker and that the root system cant supply and quicky hydrate.... please... if you have more information on this, you are more than welcome to help me out!
TEMP: its been around 76-80 degrees consistently around the daytime, and around mid 60s at night. these past couple nights have been a bit colder however, maybe around the low 60s. shouldnt be a problem right?
MEDIUM:
1. natural, supposedly organic Kellogg brand soil. again, i am on a super tight budget and i think this was the better choice, for i have tried miracle-gro. i think miracle-gro soil is great for seedlings IMO.
2. miracle-gro perlite. i know some people say this is a mistake, but again i am on a tight budget, and this was the better choice for me.
NUTES:
i got some of that kellogg tomato, herb or whatever fert, and i havent even used it. 4-6-4. i am scared to use nutes at the moment. i always thought just soil and water would do the trick. should i start using nutes? i will get to how far i am in vegging as soon as i can. i also have blood meal from miracle-gro with 12-0-0. this also i cam scared to use.
I am using the paper towel method, being the most successful one. i have used this method on about 10 seeds so far, and all have opened up.
i then just plant the seeds in plastic dixie cups and let them grow for a little bit. i then get my medium ready and transplant into 3 liter pots, to be then transplanted into a 3gallon for the finale. i dont plan on growing trees or anything above 3ft since my neighbors would be able to see it!
every seed i plant i try something different, so i can further my knowledge on what specific actions results in what. i tried overwatering a couple on purpose, and underwatering a couple as well. they both survived for a couple weeks doing this.
i mixed about 60/40 with the kellogg and perlite. like i said im starting my seeds in plain miracle-gro(the moisture control kind) i liked the way my seedlings looked and how firm their stem was. i do get gusty winds in my balcony that sometimes bends the hell outa my little guys. ive also read about windburn, how it can really mess up your leaves and make them wrinkley? anyone with more knowledge on this?
yea, i dont even know if theyll be male or female. this is just a project and hopefully lessons to learn as i grow them. the males i will still keep and grow for the heck of it, and see if i can make a zillion seeds!
i should have started this journal as my little seedlings started to pop up, but better now than never.
ive went through some ups and downs with these little guys, being my first grow. my last problem was a straight downhill and no hope for return type of problem. (IMO)
i will post pictures as soon as possible. til then, no stress weed, only high percent please!
