GM’s Grow Journal Spring 2020: 1st Time Indoor Grow! White Widow, AK-47 & Bubblegum

Day #32 (WW & AK)

1. Holy smokes! This morning I didn’t have time but I was going to cut the one broken branch off the Widow because it was all dried up and making really no progress but then I came home tonight and checked them again and not only are they starting to grow like crazy (tallest branch is 5”) but the last broken branch was full of life and thriving! I did crop the 5” top about 2”.

Bubblegum Day #29

1. Looks ok to me- Didn’t have to do anything.

They're looking really good!
Looks like you picked the perfect time to flip to 12/12-
You'll probably see an inch a day (or more) of growth for the next few weeks...if you end up with
a few branches that just want to be way taller than the rest (that's what usually happens) supercropping them early on is a good thing to do- if they're really aggressive, you will probably need to do it more than once.

Here's an informative thread by one of our very knowledgeable members, @InTheShed , that explains the how, why, and when of supercropping-
You may not need to supercrop at all,but if you do, this tells you all about it:

You doing ok, Nurse Gnarly?

Looking good!
Damn, they got big! (or the tent got smaller :) )
You're doing a great job on them-your green thumb is showing!

Day 58 of flower (AK & WW):

I got super busy and quit taking pictures everyday because the plants got too big but I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted since the end of April! Anyways, I almost feel as though once the growth started to plateau, my plants looked liked they tightened up and started shrinking? Likely not the case, just an observation. With this being my first grow, I don’t want to be the newbie that chops too early. I understand the trichome phases (clear, cloudy, amber) but even with my really cheap (and totally stupid) USB microscope, I can’t tell the difference between clear and cloudy trichomes. Just when I think they’re still clear, I see some random amber ones. If anyone would be willing to help me out, I’d really appreciate the input! I’m at 8 weeks and 2 days of flower (today) and I don’t want the full-on couch lock high but not the kind of high you can’t fall asleep with either. @carcass - I’m hoping you’re still out there (I’m sure you are)....can you weigh in on whether or not these look ready to chop?

Day 56 flower (Bubblegum):
She really started to catch up once I started rotating the plants in the tent.

Of note, I haven’t given any of them any nutrients now in a week (water only) because I thought I was ready to start flushing but maybe I just screwed myself by doing that?

Hey Gnarly!
Good to see you!
Judging by that microscope shot, the trichomes look just about right to harvest- a few clear ones, some cloudy, and a few ambers...
And there's very few new pistils popping out in the rest of the pics, so I'd say any time from here on in would be the right time to harvest-

Looks like you did a great job on your first plants !

Sweet because I couldn’t contain myself. I broke a stem when trying to get a good picture so I went ahead and chopped the AK. The White Widow looks as though she’s about ready too but I’m going to hold on to her and Bubblegum until Thursday. I took a tiny sample of the one I chopped and dried it in the oven so I can test it out. I’ll probably grab a sample of the other 2 and do the same. Thanks for all your help and great wisdom...I never planned for 4 months of this but my next one I’m going to only do one big one in my tent to compare quantity. See you soon!!

Good idea! -just be aware that it'll probably taste pretty bad...quick dried buds always do- but it's a great way
to check the "ripeness".
Be sure to tag me when you start your next grow!
