re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

I wondered if anyone could help me

Here are some pictures of my Ladies in RDWC at Day Day 41 of Flowering

They are currently on 13.5 light / 10.5 Dark with 30 mins of exposure to Far-red 730-740nm light at the start of lights out

Does this just look like where the plant is naturally sucking the life out of these leaves or is there something wrong?

I've put it down to a few possible things

1. This is natural and its just some of the plants are flowering fast than some of the others
2. There is some sort of nute lockout affecting 2/4 plants in my RDWC - This is probably unlikely seeing as 2 of the plants in my other tent, in an entirely different system are affected with the same yellowing
3. The lights are too close (this is possible)

Here are some of the pictures of the yellowing plants in the RDWC in Tent F#1

And here is the same thing happening to the plants in the RDWC in Tent F#2

re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

As i said, they are currently on Day 42 and i've not yet started to feed them their nutes for the ripening phase. Based on how they look, should i? Or is there something else i can do, like reduce the number of hours of light they are getting to 12/12?

All suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated

In the mean time, here are some nice pics of the tents from a different view, its coming along nicely

re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

looks right on time to me, nothing unusual
ive heard people using less night to add growth
i have never done this myself,i always go with 12/12
i may be learning something here
with around 2 weeks left give or take a day or so
its time to start the last run
one last nute and then flush her out the last of the trip
very well done imho

take care and good luck

Thanks a lot yuyo! :)

That's music to my ears. I was planning on doing a final defoliation on Wednesday (Day 45 of flowering), when I do that, I'll change the nutes to my ripening mix for 2 weeks and then flush.

One thing that has confused my a little is that I've heard you should use the pistils to determine when to start ripening (when they are mainly amber/brown), however the majority of the pistils are still white. It's like the leaves and the pistils and contradicting each other. But I'm going to do as you recommend and switch to ripening on Wednesday.

Regarding the 13.5/10.5 lighting, this is made possible with the use of far-red (730-740nm) radiation at the beginning of lights out. I learned this from Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana growers handbook. Here is a useful extract if you are interested

Marijuana Grower's Handbook: The Indoor High Yield Guide - Ed Rosenthal - Google Books

Thanks for your help and support, it's much appreciated Yuyo

re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

ty for the link of course i am interested i have much to learn
the leaves are being cannibalized and will continue to deteriorate
especially once you start the final flush
as for the pistils they will begin to slowly change at first
then pick up with a quickness at the very end
the real deal is the trichomes, a nice glass or loupe is needed
anyway as i said you have done a nice job and will be quite happy i am sure
keep up the good works
take care

interesting subject with the far red light and change in 12/12 format :)

Looking great can't wait for the outcome!

Thanks Xbones, neither can I ;)

Thanks for stopping by Mrrobert. It's an interesting technique, if you want to know more, do some research on Phytochrome, Pr and Pfr.I leanred about it from Ed Rosenthals Marijuana Grower's Handbook, this book explains it all.

Something to note is that when i flipped to flowering, i went 12/12 for the first 5 days, then i changed to reduce the hours of dark to 10.5 from 12, and as a result, increase my hours of light from 12 to 13.5.

re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

Your leaf damage appears to be from nutrient burn. Are you using a calcium and magnesium supplement and if so at how many milliliters per gallon?

Thanks for your input KJC

I'm using Plant Magic MagneCal+ at 0.5ml per litre (approx 2ml per gallon) which is approx 1/2 the recommended dosage. Do you think I should refrain from using it?

I have hard water but supplement with CalMag anyway because of the fact I am using LED lighting

Did you mean to say that it's nutrient deficiency KJC, or does additional CalMag help with nute burn?

I believe that your plants also may be displaying a calcium deficiency on their leaves.

re: GoogleGenie's Fruity Chronic & Cheese Grow - Hydro - 2300W LED

I believe that your plants also may be displaying a calcium deficiency on their leaves.

I topped up my systems today with Plain Water, full strength MagneCal and Cannazyme, at an ec of 1.4 and from now on I will be feeding MagneCal at full strength. This is going to push my base ec up to 1.0 after I add MagneCal as my starting EC is 0.5, so I suspect I will have to drop down my boost and/or base nutrients to accommodate the extra Cal/Mag supplement otherwise my overall ec will be too high (around 2.2). But I may only apply this from mid flowering onward as the calcium deficiency didnt present itself until the middle of my flowering phase.

Thanks again for your help with this KingJohnC, as usual it is very much appreciated :Namaste:
