Just don't get it! Why would you want to remove what produces the energy that makes Bud's grow. The plant will defoliate its self as it matures. The only trimming I do is remove small limbs in under growth. That will only produce tiny buds. That I don't want to deal with.

I defoliate at various stages during vege to open things up. I also defoliate moderately about 3 weeks after flowers appear. Not all strains need it and not all plants respond favourably. I have had Incredible results from doing it and recommend doing a side by side. I've even defoliated an auto with astounding success.

It's not for everyone but I highly recommend trying it. I also recommend watching tutorials and talking to the lovely people on here

Tread lightly
Here's some that are part way through that I used my technique on, no tiny buds on my girls. No Hermies and the auto is the big girl
These were 3 weeks or so out

Well then I guess I do defoliate. Just not to that extent. Kinda like those thump size nuggets. And do it about same time. Three week's.

So, the reason I did this type of defoliation was because the plants were infested with bugs. Russet mites and thripes mainly. The problem I ran into later on was time to maintain the grow. I didn’t supliment the grow after the defoliation properly (adding nuts). The plants are now being harvested today. I’m seeing close to a pound and a half in a 6x6 with 1000w HPS but it should have been much more based on my previous grows. I believe the bugs did there number on the plants. Especially in the roots zone.

Also. Grandmaster defoliating works like this=. Strip all the water leaves except the smaller ones. The smaller ones are able to photosynthesis better then older ones. They will give enough energy to keep pushing on. Adding nutrients is also a key because your did take a lot of the reserves so it will need those for immediate. But by defoliating so heavily you are allowing more light and air to the middle sets of buds which will make them grow bigger and with more trichomes then if not. Trichomes are a defence mechanism to the cannabis plant for light and wind. The smaller water leaves quickly grow to become the bigger ones then you repeat again in middle flower then once more at end. The last one is so when you go to trim, there’s less to trim... it works if all variables are right. Mine were not. Was a grandmaster mistake hahaha

Neem oil kills bug's and fungus. Complete organic residue is gone in 48 hour's. Recommended by Ed Rosenthal in the marijuana grower's hand book. It is also recommended in Jorge Cervantes MARIJUANA Horticulture, the indoor/outdoor medical grower's Bible. But both state not to use during last week before harvest.

I am not so sure that works on Russet Mites.

I tried this last run...stripping them bare. I had a RQS Sherbert hermy on me, the other strains did okay.

I didn’t see any increase in yield and if anything saw the plants struggle a bit to produce a normal yield.

Going forward I will just do the usual pre flower defoliation.

Just my experience. And yeah it does freak you out a bit when you’re done cutting and step back to look.

Think you mite be surprised. Have used it in garden for year's. Secret is prevent infestation to begin with. Neem oil can be used every two weeks. Every week if you already have infestation until their gone. I also spray my grow area at least once a month. Another thing many grower's over look with tent grow. All air entering should be filtered. With just enough positive pressure to to force small amount of air out any small whole. If it can't get in it can't infest.

Been oil yes. I should have tried but honestly was just tired of growing these girls. Wanted it too end so I forced the flower lol. None hermaphrodited though which is good. I’m ok with the outcome but I don’t think I’ll ever grow lien this again. My first grow was waaaayy better. Cleared 2 lbs on 5 plants in a 6x6 1000e HPS. Huge difference in the way I grew them. These ones had zero attention given to them besides waterings They grew like the basic Christmas tree. The first grow I did was scrog and major training. Much better with the scrog. No wasted energy due to all tops being equal distance. I’ll never do a Christmas tree again lol
