One of Scotland's biggest ever cannabis farms was uncovered during police raids on two homes.

Cannabis with a street value of £250,000 was growing in two flats in Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire.

It took officers three days to remove the plants after the find in the town's Sinclair Street on December 18.

Ten bags of fertiliser were stacked against a wall at the back of one of the houses.

The police also found specialist cannabis growing equipment such as lights, cooling fans and a humidifier.

A neighbour said: "Police have been coming and going ever since the raid."

Stray cannabis leaves, which fell from the plants during the clear-out, could still be seen on the driveway on Friday evening.

Another neighbour said: "I was walking my dog past when one of the police men told me to keep him out of the way or he might get high."

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "The properties were unoccupied and inquiries are continuing."

Be careful. If your dog walks past pot he could get high.
