Nice setup Blaze and welcome ....certainly plenty of room for some training. I'm interested to see how the 10:1 soil mix works out.

re: Growing Blueberry Auto - 420 - & Purple Haze Auto - Soil LED 2017

The Blueberry is 4 days older than the Purple Haze as I had a baker moment and dropped one of the seeds and lost it, so I had to re-germinate if you know what I mean.

Here is the Blueberry which sprouted from the soil after only 2 days, lights are about 8” away at this point at just blue spectrum (veg) light

Here is the Purple Haze popping out 4 days later, still with its seed case on its head:

Placed both smart pots near each other and gave them a soak, the grow begins ....

re: Growing Blueberry Auto - 420 - & Purple Haze Auto - Soil LED 2017

Being my first grow, I was still F@&king around with PH’s and run off water PH, I was trying to learn as fast as I could online and implement the learnings as I go along with the grow. So bear with me with all the noob mistakes ✌️
I started reading online that MORE light = MORE yield, so I decided to switch on both the Grow and Veg light switches to have the LED going at full power for the entire grow. Being naive it did not even cross my mind that this will increase heat levels since I did not have a good understandng of ventilation etc.
Here is a photo of what the temp and humid levels were up to a few hours after switching on the lights:

The babies struggled through so thank God for them being strong enough to endure my noobness
Here is a photo of the Blueberry at 11 days old:

Since I did not take into account how fast the plants grow in the first few days, the Purple Haze Auto stretched on me and became top heavy so I had to “aid” it in some way so that it grows straight and stronger ... since we had sushi yesterday, stoner improv coming in HAT !

We’ll see if the chopstick + 2 Zip tie hobo-method will work out ...

re: Growing Blueberry Auto - 420 - & Purple Haze Auto - Soil LED 2017

Got the humidity and temperature levels in order at 81F and 55% for the rest of the grow (so far) so that helped the plants really settle down and call the grow tent home finally! Coming along nicely and just amazed at how fast these plants grow. Like coming to see them once a day is NOT enough as you lose out in their lifecycle and can notice defects more quickly.
Been a learning curve but hey, thats what first grows are all about right?
Here is a photo of the babies side by side, left being the Blueberry Auto @ 12 days and right (with the chopstick) is the Purple Haze Auto @ 8 Days:

Hoping to get some decent vertical growth before switching up. Plants have only been watered once with 5.6 PH distilled water (I know slightly low but it was my first watering so was still getting the hang of it). I water around the plants only as they are still small for now and I did not want to make the rookie mistake of over-watering just yet so I laid back on watering too often. Prefer to spray the plants and surface of the soil with a sprayer using 5.6 PH water too to keep the balance.

re: Growing Blueberry Auto - 420 - & Purple Haze Auto - Soil LED 2017

Slowly getting used to the daily ritual of checking on them and making sure the babies are doing well and keeping hydrated. I did some messing around with the grow tent, put in clip fan and changed the height of the LED + TLC to the grow tent to take out any unwanted particles etc.
Here is a breakdown of what I did:

* Watered Purple Haze with 5.7 PH, runoff 6.3 PH - she took a whole 2 litres
* Watered BlueBerry with 5.7 PH - Runoff 6.4 PH - took 1L
* Switched plants around to get hit differently by the light
* Inline Fan Speed 2 - Clip Fan Speed 1
* Led Light - 8” from canopy

Blueberry is now @ 15 days old :

Main Cola, starting to give off a certain aroma too! Like minty berry!

She’s looking a bit droopy, but thats cus I haven’t watered in a while, I’m a strong believer that roots need to go out and search for the water and nutrients, over being soaked and encountering over-watering problems.

Eagerly waiting for any signs of sex, even though they are both feminized seeds, but node development seems to be going pretty well so far!

FEEDING TIME!

Been reading quite a lot on feeding and don't do this and don't do that, check the nodes and trichomes. Basically this is how it went down in this grow tent's first ever feeding with 0 experience.

* Fed both plants with 6.6 PH water 1/8 of dosage on the label of nutrients - 0.125ml feed (Soil A + B) with 1 litre of water (screwed up cus should have calculated on 2 litres of water), but screw it you live and learn, I noticed after when I was having a smoke and remembered out of the blue!

* BlueB @ 21 days

* PurpleH @ 17 days (getting bushier by the minute)

Really thinking of trimming some fan leaves on the purple as it is looking too busy and I want light to penetrate past the fan leaves, especially since I only have 1 light source, so limited angle of light. Any ideas or thoughts on trimming fan leaves on autos? Does it cause stress or is it negligible? Is it meant to be done when the plants get this bushy?

I wouldn't hesitate to take out the occasional fan Leaf if they are blocking potential Bud sites but otherwise I would tend to just tuck them underneath until the plants get a little bit more vertical growth. Once the plants grow a little taller you can remove some of the lower leaves that prevent air circulation and block potential Bud sites, but you are right, these are autos and they do tend to be quite a bit more temperamental. Just be diligent with your pruning and make sure that you don't remove too much at once. Phototype plants are completely different, you can remove plant leaves as you wish all the way through vegetative cycle and a couple of weeks into your flower cycle. I tend to quit removing leaves once they go into stretch unless it is an emergency situation where moisture is building up or as I said before Bud sites are being completely blocked by a fan leaf.

Great job brother, the plants are looking fantastic. Only thing is, on one of your photos it looks as though some of the leaves are curling up at the edges., just watch that, it could be heat stress. Where is your light now with regards to your canopy? What are your temperatures like on your probe for your thermometer? How is the humidity playing out now?

Just wanted to show you what you have to look forward to. I grew the 420 Blueberry auto this summer under similar conditions (my first ever grow) with a couple differences. It's a great strain and pretty forgiving. BTW it was 75 days and 3.2oz. Good luck. I'll sub up.

Damnnnnn! Now thats a nice grow! I would be over the moon if the grow actually gets to that size, but I used a 3 gallon smart pot only, yours looks MUCH bigger. I'll wait for your advice since you've been through the grow already. Hit me up! :)

Only difference I see so far is I LST'd the crap out of mine. Started feeding around day 20 with fox farms trio and used 300 watt viparspectra led. FFOF soil BTW.

UPDATE *

Week 3 - first hurdle has been reached. Woke up today and expected a decent vertical growth but instead I ended up with a deficiency of some sort!! I did some research to see what I might be up against. Started reading that it might be a calcium deficiency and found out the culprit, table water that I’m using will be stripped from any nutrients that regular water will have in it. So bought some CalMag and added it to my next water which is today(present time).
Here are the pics of what both plants experienced ...

So you did feel the need to start using fertilizer even with the FFOF soil? How were your feedings....lighter than normal?

That's a good question. I bought and used the fertilizer just from what I read somewhere based on the FFOF soil. It was my first grow so I'm still trying to figure all the nutrients out. I started with 1/4 strength nutrients from the fox farm schedule and increased it every week by 1/4 till it was full strength with the addition of cal mag and molasses around week 6. Fed every other feeding alternating plain PH water then water with nutrients. Both PH'd to 6-6.5 and fed about every 3 days so the soil would dry out between.

Yeah, that sounds an awful lot like standard nutrients scheduling. I was kind of under the impression with this foxfarm soil and some YouTube videos that this would be pretty much a water and foliar spray grow until the end. I'm going to try it with no nutrients, see how it goes.......grows lol. So far so good anyway.
