GR's Fall '19 Coco Grow

Update: Day 21 of 12/12

Slept late this morning so was not able to completely finish the 21st day trim work on the ladies. Got a lot done and got the new legs on the screen to raise the height of it a bit, about 8 inches. I was not able to get buds moved around and still need a bit more trimming but that will have to wait till tonight as the light went out @ 9 AM so I shut it down.
Here are a couple of pics from this morning.

As stated I still need to move the buds around, I have broken a couple of branches already and don't want to snap anymore, so care needs to be taken.
It is amazing the difference in the strains, have a feeling from looking at them @ 21 days that the BlueBerry will be ready to harvest first followed by the Original Skunk and then the G13 Haze should be ready a few weeks after the other two strains.
I really don't like mixing strains because of height differences, nutrient uptake and flowering times.
I need to find a way to get clones shipped to me, any ideas would be nice.
Will take a couple of caps today for the back so i should be able to finish them tonight.

I usually, in horizontal grows, have to do some SC'ing during the grow for height control. Have even done it on my vertical grows, but not that often.

Day's 22 and 23 of 12/12

Just a couple of pics showing the quick recovery from all the work done on day 21.

Have had to do a lot of Super Cropping with three different strain in the tent. Not a good idea to mix Sativa's and Indica's in the same tent. I raised the screen this weekend by about 8 inches, hope to support the buds better. All seems to be going well.

Day 25 of 12/12

As I stated in post #80 my hydro guy gave me a bottle of House and Garden pH Osmosis/Stabilizer.
I started using it in this past weeks rez solution. Used the method recommended on the label with limited results, so I called H&G on Monday and the guy I spoke with told me something completely different. I am trying his method with this new batch of nute solution. Here is the spreadsheet on this batch.

I added the Epsom and CaliMagic, then the H&G followed by the nutes and supplements. You can see what I add and what the change in ppm as they are added. Hoping the pH continues to drop over next week prior to adding it to the rez.
I have about 4 gallons left in the rez and will run a flush tomorrow with the remaining solution. I then have a can of solution that I made on 9/30. Both of the last couple of rez's, where made with purchased RO, as when I was replacing the filters on my RO machine one would not seal and I had to wait for the co. to ship another one. This mix was made according to the rep's recommendation so shall see how it goes.

Couple of pic's from today.

Update: Day 30 of 12/12

Doing ok, since the last post I have added one of the storage tanks to the rez, the days it sat in the tank was fairly stable. pH when I made the tank up on 10/2 was ph'ed to 5.84 and today 10/7 when it went into the tank was 5.97. I can live with that kind of pH drift.
Will be headed to NM for a few days to visit good friend with a day trip planned to CO for a little adventure and some shopping. So I have a full rez and when I leave on Wed. will have three reserve tanks full so my assistant will only have to add as needed and pH.
Couple a pics from this morning.

Need to do another trim, but will only remove fans blocking bud sites, and will wait till day 42 to do another good trim.
The fragrance is amazing for 4 weeks plus days, with three different strains and no pheno is the same so getting a bit of all fragrance's aroma's.
Need to get the lights up some, not much more height in there. Have been getting after the Super Cropping but the G13 Haze is still stretching.

This morning in the tent I notice the two Original Skunk #1 plants leaves are turning upwards. It is not showing on any of the other strains.
Here are the two plants, they are the shorter of the other two strains, 6 plants.

No tip burn and the buds look good overall.

Any thoughts?

I have begun using two 32 gallon tanks filled with 21 of nute solution, with the pH Osmosis/Stabilizer and pH'ed that solution. This allows for the nute solution to stabilize for 3 to 4 days prior to adding it to the rez. When it's time to refill the rez the solution is added and pH again, this hold the pH between 5.8 and 6.15 for 3 to 5 days.

I built a DIY EZ Cloner and the clones I did last December gave me 100% rooted.
The clones I took earlier in this grow I put in my shop that has everything I need during cloning, water, power and cooling. Well I went out of town and my cooling system crashed, when I returned a few days later the shop was hot, hot hot, the water temp was 108. The clones were all limp and the cloner stunk and we had root rot bad. So will not use it except during cool weather.

So I gone back to the old standby coco, usually use Solo cups but with this many clones I decided to try the tub. Being in coco/perlite I will be able to pull them out in bunches and separate them individually for transplanting. We did this a few years back when I thought it would be a good idea to plant 3 plants in a 23 gallon sorghum tub, this is half that size,. Planted them as clones and they were doing great but then I need to move the tub to the tent, could not get it moved at all. So I took each plant out with very little damage to the roots and transplanted into three gallon smart pots.
This one is a shorter version of that 23 gallon one and I can lift and move it. Another thing is it can handle the heat in the shop, will just keep the door cracked during the day and my big fans going. All will be good.
So I tried your cloning method and it works great. I planted this one at the end of last month. Its been going great since I planted it. I just dipped it in clonex and put it in the pot. I'm not sure, but judging by the amount of new growth, I'm gonna say it's rooted. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I'll be buying rockwool anymore.

Update: Day 38 12/12

Height control has been an issue, the G13 Haze, a Sativa, continues to stretch. How many times can you Super Crop a plant?
Other than that they are doing just fine. Being gone for 5 days I could sure see a difference in the ladies. When I got home yesterday, the G13 Haze was growing very close to the lamps so I did a lot of tying down, some more Super Cropping, and a lot of just bending.

Update: Day 42 of 12/12

Completed, well sort of half ass completed the 42 day trimming. Got as much as I can reach, and my GF could reach, she is much more nimble than I. Have to figure out a better way if I am going to run the horizontal grows and use the screen to support the buds. My 5 plant vertical grows work well because I can remove each plant from the tent to work on them, tie back to the screen, trim and the such. Whereas my horizontal grows don't afford me the opportunity to remove the plants.
Here are pictures of one of my 5 plant vertical grows. As you can tell I am able to remove each plant from the tent to do tying, trimming and the likes.

Now for this grow at day 42 of flower.

How many times can you Super Crop a branch?
20191020_090154.jpg

The screen is 4 x 3 feet, I cannot bend over to reach the back plants so I have to hold on to a door frame and reach with one arm and it is a pain in the ass, not to mention my back, shoulders and overall body. :(
20191020_090229 (2).jpg

I may have to do a full on flush. I rarely check run off but I am seeing a little tip burn on the Indicas so we checked it, I am inputting 750 ppm and my rinsate is over 800 ppm, so the plants aren't taking in the nutes and there seems to be some buildup of nutes in the plant profile. The pH is remaining stable in the rinsate, input over a light cycle is 5.8 start and 5.9 + at the end of the third watering cycle. Three watering per light cycle, total of approx 4 to 5 gallons.
I just increased my input by 15 seconds per cycle, so will check runoff again tomorrow morning see if that helps. I am getting about three gallons of runoff so that should be adequate.
This seems to happen in each of my grows at about the 5th week of flower, some more so than others. After I empty the rez in about two days, per plan, I will be lowering the ppms of A&B and adding liquid KoolBloom to the mix. Instead to running recommended amounts for the one week period, I will reduce the rates but run them for the next few week at the reduced rate.
If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears.

Peace out, and everyone have a wonderful day. Thinking of taking the boat out and spin around the bay for a bit today. Then my son is Q'ing ribs for dinner.

Can I ever relate to the back problems. They're what started me growing.

There's only one way to use a screen in our condition. That is to make sure we can easily reach all of the plants for maintenance. This is why all but one of the tents I use is only 24" deep. Another way would be to use a larger tent, and arrange it so that you can work from the sides to easily reach all of the plants. You could also put the pots on individual casters, and fit each with a mini-screen. This approach lets you move the plants individually for easy access. It doesn't help you with this grow, but is food for thought in the future.

Good health is wasted on them hale and hearty youngsters. :cheesygrinsmiley:
