Hanna’s Dream: An Old School Grow Documentary

In honor of it being 4/20, I thought it would be fun to start a little grow documentary.

I received 5 free seeds with my last order from my regular vendor.
Cool! Free seeds!
Problem was, they never told me what strain it was. So instead of calling it “the Mystery Strain”,
I’m calling them Hanna’s Dream after my very best friend. I decided to grow a couple.

I grow indoors using tried and true old school methods. Compact fluorescents for seedlings, 600 watt Metal Halide for vegging and High Pressure Sodium during the flowering stage. On sunny days I will put them into the natural light coming in the large sliding glass doors.

I use Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with extra perlite blended in. Pretty standard stuff. No nutes until two weeks into veg.
Reverse osmosis filtered well water. I live in an extremely dry climate, so spraying the foliage during the dark period helps with providing humidity.

I used the old wet paper towel method for germinating the seeds. Works great. Always does.

Germinated seeds went into plastic cups. Everyone does, right?

After the appearance of the 5th leaf set, they entered the vegetative phase. Out comes the old school 600w MH lamps. I transplanted them into 3.5 gallon black plastic containers.
They vegged for 5 weeks.

It soon became apparent that Hanna was Indica dominant, as can be seen by comparing her fan leafs to the known Columbian Gold sativa in the pic below. Nice wide leafs!

As of today, 4/20/19 Hanna is in her 3rd week of active flowering.
I’ll post some pics of her flowering progress later.

I made the switch to HPS lamps and started the 12/12 light schedule on 3/23/19.
The first signs of flowering appeared 1 week later on 3/30/19.
The pics below are from a couple days later. The first two are in natural light, the second couple under HPS.

Here they are today 4/20/19 at 3 weeks of flowering :

I will post new photos each Saturday to show their progress.

Today marks the 4th week of active flowering.
Hanna is starting to show some changes in color to her pistils and her trichomes are becoming apparent. 4-6 weeks left!

Today marks the 5th week of active flowering for the mysterious and lovely Hanna’s Dream.

I’ve been using Fox Farms organic Big Bloom nutes. 3/4 recommended strength every other watering.

Ok - I blew it! The above pics are from last week!

These are from today.... :) The pistils are getting more colorful.

Today is the six week mark of active flowering for the lovely Hanna’s Dream.
They were bulking up more this week. The pistils are gradually changing colors and the trichomes are becoming more abundant, yet still mostly clear at this point. Possibly 3 more weeks.

This Saturday is the 7th week of active flowering for the sexy Hanna’s Dream.
I have been very fortunate this grow in that there has been absolutely no mites at all.
I think it’s due to my limited contact with them after working in the yard, and that there have also been no pets bringing the unwanted hitch hikers into the house. RIP Jackie...

Today is the 8th week of flowering for the lovely and fragrant Hanna’s Dream.

Just coming into the house gets you overwhelmed with her beautiful scent. She’s getting very pungent. A close inspection of her trichomes shows she is still at least a week away from readiness.

Lovely doco, CM. She sure was a pretty plant. Sorry to read about the loss of Jackie.
Are you still running cuts of Hanna’s Dream?
How did she cure?
And the big question... :tommy:
Did Hanna dig having a doco dedicated to her?

Nice work
:high-five:
Some beautiful photos
(I know. By the time I’m done late will have been my life story :))

Hey bro
Thanks for the nice compliments.

Jackie was a great little girl. Jack Russell terrier. Old age. Inevitable

I didn’t take any clones, but still have a few seeds for the next grow.

She ended up being an excellent smoke. She cured wonderfully. I still have quite a bit.

And of course miss Hanna herself was thrilled with me naming it after her!
I was honored to call it by her name. And yes - Hanna is dreamy... the bud and the woman!
