Harvested but notice white powder in clay pebbles

Hey guys

New to growing this is my first harvest, I bought seeds the strains were northern lights and bubblegum.

Just harvested one of 4 plants other three have 3 weeks left.

This one plant skipped veg cycle and went directly to flower so it was some time ahead of the others.

I noticed today, I should mention full hydro system, seeded in Rockwool and planted with Rockwood into clay pebbles. Top Drip system.
When I took out the roots on the bottom of the basket was heavy heavy white powdery substance,

Just curious if anyone has seen this or if it's just from the chemicals and over time it accumulated or if it's something to be concerned about.

Thanks for reading.

I'd increase the flow rate from the top to keep the nutrients in solution. If you got a decent harvest from your plant, it didn't hurt anything. You probably used more nutrients than you needed to maintaining your reservoir.

Did you flush before harvest? This will get rid of the metallic taste due to inorganic nutrients.

Hey old salt!!

Thanks for the info. I did flush it for a week before harvesting.

I did not get a big harvest from this one as it went directly to flowering and didn't grow much.

I will turn up the Rez flow and see if that will help the three remaining.

Cheers

You don't need the top feed on once the roots are down in the water and established. If you have it on or the water is getting the rocks wet and you have light able to get thru the rocks you can get algae buildup. Maybe it was just dead algae. I had some in the same setup. Make sure you have all light blocked as good as you possibly can over the stones and around the base of the plant to not let light hit anything moist. If you haven't run any, running some Z7 or Z9 depending on location will help keep things nice and clean in the res as well.

Thanks for the feedback I'm harvesting tomorrow the other three plants. Will post pics and see if any of this is in the other plants.

Here is the final product. I didn't get white residue on the other three plants just must not have flushes it long enough.
