Hello 420 friends
I’ve decided to make some THC infused MTC Oil.
The wife doesn’t like to smoke so I’m making her some oil.
So here is my recipe and a few pics.

First, turn on good toons ( Sirius Pitbul)

1oz bud
Chop coarse (too fine makes it taste weedy)
Preheat oven and Dearborn @ 240 for 45 - 60 minutes
Baking sheet & cover with tin foil
After decarb leave covered until cool
2 cups organic coconut oil
Heat to 170 - 190 (stabilize around 180) cook for 3 hrs
Strain with cheese cloth
Let cool
I bottle into 30 and 60 ml bottles with droppers

This is awesome, what are you planning to put the oil with?

I’ve tried cooking a few times with brownies and cookies

Hi Tio Hector, great recipe, thanks for sharing. If I could suggest a way to improve without sounding like a know all....I did pretty much the same recipe myself when I started making the oil but if you add sunflower lecithin as the emulsifier (I've used powder & liquid versions, both work fine). It increases the potency .....a lot.
Also when I started making the oil using this method, I binned the leftover strained bud but after testing it's THC & CBD levels, I found it's just as potent as the oil, so rather than throw away, I put that in capsules.

Thanks Neil
Appreciate the help, I’ll purchase some and try it with my next batch.
Do you dry the leftover before putting it in capsules?
Thanks again

Hey Tio, where's your new Auto grow journal? Did you make one?
Agemon, didn’t do one this grow
Too much gong on, built a new grow space, been working on a grow chart that will graph
Building some new cob lights
I’m about to chop this Friday
Next journal I should have my shit together
Thanks for stopping by

I tried The Capn's recipe on Dude Grows a few times, and each time I only got minimally stoned and wicked indigestion. Comparing his recipe to yours, I see that yours calls for twice as much bud per volume of coco oil. He also used lecithin, but still, it was always weak. I'll have to order more coco oil with 62%MCT, and I still have the lecithin. What's your opinion on using trim?

Lecithin is an emulsifier, it helps dissolve everything more thoroughly into the oil. Now I need some sunflower lecithin for my kitchen.

Does it change the ratio of weed to oil, dilute the strength at all? My oil is pretty good already, I try to soak for at least a week before I decarb. I'd love to see how much I'm throwing away. Have a been wasting a bunch of THC cause I'm not using lecithin?

soaking it in the oil? in the beginning you say to add oil after decarbing.

Nah, that's not it. I do a cold oil infusion. THC is fat soluble, so I soak the cannabis in oil for at least a week, gotta keep it liquid. It also picks up the coco flavor more, IME. After the soak / infusion, I then decarb using a slow cooker. 3-5 hours at 212 degrees give or take a few tics. Then I filter and collect the G/G oil and use for gel caps and / or baked goods.

I like baked goods that get me baked! :yummy:

My bad Age, when I asked the question in my previous post, I had it in my head that Tio Hector is who said he soaks the herbs in the oils. Do you have an opinion about soaking with lecithin mixed in? I got a few zips of trim on the shelf, plus a lot of lecithin. I'm going to order some coco oil now that this thread is buzzing again.

I had no idea what lecithin was til I saw it mentioned in this thread. I have to admit I'm happy with my oil and I'm looking to start making CBD topicals and capsules. I just popped a Candida and I'm waiting for a tapper. I'm planning on using Grape Seed Oil for the topical and maybe capsules depending on expense vs Coco. I'll use the Coco oil for edibles, the coconut and chocolate is great without that coconut texture!

BTW: my recipe is super simple.

1 oz ground to 1 cup coco oil. I let it soak/ infuse for at least a week in a boil safe jar. Put in slow cooker on low for a few hours. Use a fine mesh screen to strain the oil. I've found that if you let it sit in a liquid state, after strain, for another week after cooking a small amount of sediment will sink and stick to the bottom of the jar. Two things about that. I bet that stuff will get you ph#@%d up and it prolly tastes nasty! To this point I've been afraid to test that stuff, a concentration of Trichs & Keif soaked in coco oil.
