Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

Hello all! I suppose I will jump into the journal ring with what I have going on. This is my first grow.

The back story: I received two clones, rooted in peat pellets and in solo cups of coco. The date was 6/4/2012 when I got them. At the time I was just starting to build my grow room(s) and was not really ready to take them on. I only had a 2 bulb 4ft T5 and a half built veg area. Luckily the guy that gave the clones to me also gave me a half a bottle of Canna BioVega, because I didn't even have nutes yet. Thankfully Corey at Blue Planet Nutrients processes orders quick and I got my nutes 1 week after I got the girls.

What strain is it? Hashplant Haze
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? Hybrid
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? Veg
If in Veg... For how long? The mother were at 6 weeks on 7/14/12
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? Hydro
Size of lights? 1x 2 lamp 4ft T5, 1x 8 lamp 5ft T5, 1x 600w HPS with cool tube
Temp of Room/cab? Oye...it varies, too much. I'm working on that!
RH of Room/cab? lol....same as temp. As low as 30% and as high as 60%
PH of res? Varies. 5.8 as of 7/14/12
Any Pests ? Not yet
Type and strength of ferts used? Blue Planet Nutrients 2 part with bloom booster (using online feeding chart for a guide), 1 drop SUPERthrive per gallon
Bucket Size: It varies by stage, but ultimately 5 gallon each plant plus 5 gallon res
Medium: rooted in peat pellets, stuck in net pots with Hydroton
# of Plants: 2 for now

I have kept a log, so I will just post up what I have so far with corresponding pictures. Hang in there while I get this all figured out and uploaded!

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

OK, the date is 6/4/12. Surprise, surprise.....it's a girl. Two in fact. I picked up some meds and the grower donated a couple extras! Totally out of the blue. Funny thing was I was considering asking if I could buy some clones from him and was going to ask him that visit since it could have been up to a month before I got rooted clones.

Sorry for the poor quality cell phone pics, which apparently clashes with the T5 light I use for the clone/veg 1 area. I won't be using it anymore. I have a Nikon D5000 and shortly you will see those pics take over.

Above is the one I dubbed Bonnie. Pic date is 6/6/12. She was the healthier looking of the two. Her sister (not shown) is Anna. I plan to use these two as mothers for a while to get my perpetual going. From now on I will be referring to these two with their full names. Any cuttings will will get the mothers initial, then a sequential number (A1, A2...B1, B420....someday...)

Apparently I did not take enough pics early on, and some of my notes are thin. We all learn, right?

So, to review, I received Anna and Bonnie and a half bottle of BioVega on 6/4/12. 6/5/12 I make an emergency trip to my hydro store for a PH adjustment kit and other odds & ends. 6/6/12 I watered them with 1tsp (about 5 ml) per gallon at ph 5.5ish. I did not have meters yet, so it's the good old estimate the color routine. My light schedule is 18/6 at this time.

And if you are wondering, those are various peppers and some egg plants that I was using for testing the veg area. They are in my garden now.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

The date on these two pictures is 6/7/12. Since I am setting up to grow in RDWC, I felt the need to replant them in new solo cups modified for easy root escape. On future cutting etc I will be using rockwool/hydroton. I really don't want the coco in my system, however I did not want to disturb the roots too much. So a layer of hydroton in the cup, then the root ball with coco. In the bottom of the 6" net pot is a layer of hydroton as well. I sat the solo cups in the nets, then hydroton around them. It will work for now.

Above is Anna's debut pic. She is the bent one. Both are now placed in a small DWC system made from a 16 quart Sterilite container wrapped in Mylar.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

On 6/11/12 I received my BPN package! Thanks Corey!:cheer: For several days they had been in Canna BioVega. On 6/12/12 I put them on BPN. 2.5ml/gal of both parts to start.

Now, you can't tell because of the bad quality pics (again, I apologize) but these were taken too far into flowering IMHO. On 18/6 light they were still trying to flower, so on 6/12/12 I switched to 24/7 to absolutely stop that!

As you can tell, Anna is not doing so well, becoming a problem child. This is actually the point when I named them. When I was a much younger man I was dating a girl named Bonnie. Physical gal, big bones.....softball player type. We had some epic wrestling events...

Anyhow, she had a 'sister' (read troubled friend) who lived with her. Anna. Kinda scrawny, definitely a problem child. Perfecto! Bonnie is the big healthy one, Anna is the problem. Ahhh.....good old days.

Above is Bonnie on 6/11/12

Picture is dated 6/13/12. Anna's just not feeling well.:skeptical: By this time Bonnie is sending roots already. They just started peeking out of the net pot bottom.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

6/15/12: No pics

Anna....oh Anna. You're getting worse and worse. Pale, no new growth above, no roots showing below. It's time for some help. I pulled Anna out of the system to isolate her. I removed her from the solo cup and discarded the cup & coco. I rinsed her peat pellet and what roots she did have (which were looking PATHETIC) in clean neutral water. Then I fished her roots through a 3" net cup and filled with hydroton. She went into her own DWC (4qt sterilite) with 2.5ml BPN and a dose of Oregonisms to try to stimulate the roots.

Somewhere along the line I bumped Bonnie up to 5ml/gal of BPN, but didn't document the exact date (DOH!). I did so because of age and she looked like she wanted more. She's doing good, growing like gangbusters compared to her sister.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

:eyebrowsmile:Alright, again, due to poor note taking early on I am not exactly sure of the dates, but it's pretty close.

6/21/12 - I started LSTing Bonnie. Paper clip method at first. Wanted to bend her over (ahhh, again, the good old days) to, well, do what bending her over does! Somewhere along the line, on or about 6/21 I upped Bonnie to 10ml/gal on the BPN. She is loving it.

Anna. Well, Anna is behind Bonnie quite a bit. BUT, she is turning around. Roots are starting to show. She is coloring up, starting on new growth up top. A big thank you to my good friend _______ (Gecko, not a 420mag member as far as I know). He donated the Oregonisms. I think that made a big difference. I bumped Anna to 5 ml/gal when she turned around.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

6/27/12 - Exciting day! I ordered a new T5 8 bulb 5 ft light and it came today! I hastily installed it and moved the girls to the 'top shelf' (Veg 2 & 3). Up until now I only had a 4ft 2 bulb T5 in the lower area (clone, Veg 1). With 4 switches and 160 watts per switch I will step the girls up over the next couple days. I plan to only run 3 switches (480w) at any given time. The upper area is about 12 sqft. 40 watts/sqft.

Switched Cameras to my Nikon. There might be a few pics left from my cell, but not many.

I was so excited about the light as well as Anna's progress that I went ahead and moved them back in together, as well as stepped them up to RDWC 5 gallon containers. I have a eco185 pump pushing water through an Orbit 8 port drip irrigation head. I am only planning on 3 grow containers per system, so I am plumbing 2 ports to each bucket. They drain via 1/2" from the bottoms. Each port flows 30gph. That is 60 per hour through each bucket full blast. Comes out to 180gph flow, enough to keep the pump from loading up, not that it really matters since it's a mag drive pump. Sometime in the future I will block the light from glowing orange in the buckets, but it's all good for now.

Nutrients are at 10ml/gallon. 5.6 PH (I now have a digital PH meter and TDS meter) PPM = 1400.

My well water is 600ppm and PH 7.1 :thedoubletake: Eeks. I see an RO system in my future!!

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

6/28/12:
I learned about GLR last night, today I switched them over. They were flowering when I got them, had them on 18/6, then 24 to stop the flowering. They stopped, showed plenty of growth with out showing signs of trying to continue flowering. So I feel pretty good that they are not going to revert.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

6/30/12-7/1/12:
PH=5.5
PPM=1400-1426

I was noticing they were kinda pale in the new growth. Will be watching that.
Since the hydro shop gave me a small bottle of SUPERthrive, I decided to add it. 1 drop per gallon. Did some more LST (who likes 'em tied down?). I just want them to spread a little and get some tops going. I also decided that at lights on I'm going to take 3 useless shoots off of Bonnie. They were never going to be anything but a waste of energy.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

7/2/12:
PH = 5.6
PPM = 1637
Water level was getting low. Added a gallon of nutes at full strength (10ml each BPN 2 part, 1 drop St per gallon) @ PH 5.8

Above: Anna

Above: Bonnie

Specs on the cloning:
Clonex Gel
Clonex Solution (mixed as per bottle)
1 drop Superthrive (per gallon)
1.5" Rockwool Cubes
PH = 6.0

Well, even though the 3 cuttings were really premature, I went ahead and attempted cloning with them. As you can see in the last pic, they have the day 2 sadness. I removed them and put them straight into a small glass of the clonex/St mix until I could finish them. Then I cut the stem at about 60 degrees and scraped the stem a little. A clonex dip and into the prepped rockwool. Trimmed them up a bit, foliar feed with a 50% diluted clonex/St solution and said a prayer.
We'll get back to those in 10-14 days...

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

7/3/12:
PH = 5.8
PPM = 1637 (600 is from well water)
Yesterday (7/2) I was looking at them late, and came to realize that the old foliage was super dark green, and starting to show some purple pigmentation. I searched around, looked at BPN's PH chart and decided to bump the PH from 5.5-5.6 up to 5.8. This is in hopes of providing more P, as I believe that is what I am seeing the early stages of. I also went ahead and bumped them up to 12ml each BPN 2 part per gallon. I wanted to see what they can handle.
On 7/3 there were no signs of problems.
7/4/12 - No problems. PH @ 5.8
7/5/12 - PH 5.8. I noted very, very slight signs of nute burn, but not enough to get me to do anything. Over all they are doing very well and reacting to the changes in PH and more nutes.

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

I like it! very good start on that grow. hey where did you get those buckets at?:rofl: just kidding bro, Nice so I'am subbed now and will look for some bud porn in the future:goodjob:

re: Heirlooms' Hashplant Haze Hydro Perpetual Grow

7/6/12 - 7/14/12:

Not much to report. Fast growth. They seem to love the Gas Lamp Routine. It was getting to the end of the nute solution (2 weeks) so on 7/14 I changed it. I am keeping them at the same nute level & PH (12ml each BPN 2 part and 1 drop St per gallon @ PH 5.8). I'm not adding the optional bloom booster. I just want to keep them vegging and getting ready to produce clones.

Speaking of clones, on 7/13 two out of three of my cuttings showed roots out the bottom! The third (smallest) is a little behind with no roots yet. But it's not dead and the top 1/4 of stem into the rockwool is swollen and has root nubs. They are now on there own log (in my logging system) and are B1, B2 & B3 (B for the mother, Bonnie). Pics of those soon!

Just a few check up pics!
:peace:
