Hey guys im a newbie and on the veg of my first indoor grow,im using cfl for now but switching to hps when i throw my gals into flower.
Im planning on getting 2 400watt phillips hps bulbs (pic below) cuz their pretty cheap, basically i went to look at double lamp ballasts at home depot and i cant find any numbers on the ballast that match up with the bulb except 120 v.
How do i determine what ballast works with these bulbs and also do i absolutely need a overhead reflector or can i just connect the ballast straight to a lamp socket,where do i get a compatable lamp socket and do i need the metal container with switches on it around the ballast to be able to use it or is all i need is the ballast? Im so confused, can anbody explain what all i need and obviously im trying to go the cheapest way possible...
