Hello all... this is my first post which includes my 1st and 2nd grow combined.

So start with the 1st which is now about 1 month into flowering.

Bucket Size - now in 3.5 gallon, started in dixie cups
Medium - Soil Mix (some from my backyard garden and then store bought)
Lights - (2) Dual 40w Plant and Aquarium Fluorescent Setup (energy efficient)
Nutrients - Some random Home Depot stuff... have to look at bag again
Strain(s) - I'm thinking some sort of Afghan by the way it looks
# of Plants: 3 females from 3 seeds (what are the odds? no seriously what are they?)
Yield : ??? (not done)

July 29, 2010 - More pics on both setups

Grow 1

Can someone diagnose this issue? Spider Mites? Parts of the leaves are missing near the canopy...

The setup, I have very limited space...

Healthy but not as fruitful as the next...

mmmmm... is all I can say...
IMG00194-20100729-1350.jpg

Grow 2

I changed everything around today to make for a cleaner atmosphere and optimum light usage. If anyone has any concerns about angling the light, please voice them as this is only my 2nd grow and I feel is much more productive than the first... remember I just switched to 12-12 light cycle from 24hrs under the fluoros 3 days ago and there is no sign of sex determination at this point. Also its a 250W HPS hanging there. I should have got the 400 but I was thinking only 3 plants, 250 should be sufficient.

The setup... I figure I'll rotate them a 1/4 turn every day

a nice change from this though --- June 27,2010...

And that's all for today but if anyone has suggestions for the one that was slightly eaten, I'll gladly listen.

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

Yes the cup contains some Jersey sand... but if I may say something for the jersey sand, and this may be a stretch, but I have had I believe a 6 for 6 plant to female (100%) ratio this year using my back yard soil... and though it may be a coincidence, the female's are the only one's that survived the sand. I sprouted over 20 seeds and only 6 survived (all female). I will test further and if so... well we'll see... only science will tell

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

looking very nice. I can't really see anything in the pics you posted asking about the tops leaves getting bit,, hard to see anything in tha pic.. did you get it taken care of?

that last pic,, looks :yummy:

so, you got the hps at an angle toward the plants, nd then the two flouros running vertically behind them? Any way of enclosing them a little more, to get maximum light usage? Just a thought,,, but they are looking good,, so keep it up :thumb:

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

I appreciate the advice on the lights and I will try to enclose a little more to get max light. And I also checked today, 4 days after turning lights to 12-12, all females!!!!

That means I have a 6 sprout to 6 female ratio. Unheard of so I'm told. Must be the Jersey sand.

As far as the leaves that were eaten, seems to be going ok however a lot less dense at the cola where the leaves were missing some pieces.

More pics soon to follow as this is my progress report. I want to list everything and all pics so I can see the grow from start to finish in the end.

Happy toking to all!

are you serious???? 6 out of 6 females? wow,, you GOTTA play the lottery bro,,, holy sh*t,, 6 for 6?

ok, I went back and re-read... you germed 20 seeds, and only these 6 survived? but hey, they are female,, so :yahoo:..

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

Yea Zen, my plant to germ ratio sucked for sure, but I'll take the 6 out of 6 female to plant ratio any day.

Does anyone have a method of drying and curing that works for a smooth smoke and highest potency? :rollit:

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

looking good..

I like to use the box method, (saw Roseman do it,,) basically set up string or tape across the box, and hang the buds from them,,, then put in jars, and burp the jars every day..

this is a pic from Roseman's gallery showing what I mean,,

Re: HerbsNBuds' 1st and 2nd simultaneous grow.

I just got my flowering nutes. :morenutes:

Using Fox Farm Organic BIG BLOOM liquid plant food.

I did a lot of research on this and found that this was the superior choice for hydro stores in my area and decided to purchase it.

We shall see.

New photos of the flowering setup! Tried to compact it a little more like you said Zen but I have a lack of walls close enough.

Figured this was a bit overkill but hey, the more light better.

I may just by a mylar sheet and sow it to some pvc piping for a reflective barrier

use panda plastic. it doesn't let light through like mylar and is much easier to work with and longer lasting than mylar. imo. foil tape works great on panda.

*****Hey 420Mags, can we change the name to zebra plastic? its sounds so much cooler!*****
