How high should I keep my Mars II 400w

I've just started using one of my new lights, the Mars II 400w full spectrum on my baby plants. I have it set at 2'6" at the moment, is that ok or can I put it closer?

About 24 inches should be good. When you flower you can get it a little closer

Shouldn't. I am vegging with mine for first time and see no stretch. In flower I've had it a foot away with no problems
