How long does a cannabis plant take to flower?

Im a noob so im sorry guys
Growing some medicine for my sister who has some health issues.
How long does the typical plant take to flower of indica variety.

Welcome to 420!

Provided you have ample light & environment it depends on strain plus other factors lIke auto versus photoperiod and whether grown indoors or outdoors. For indoors 8 to 12 weeks in flower is about average but most veg the plant for a month or two to build size before flipping it to flower.

Do you know what strain or the breeder estimates for how long it should take to flower? Is this being grown indoors or outside?

I was just about to look for some seeds just wanted to find out some info first.

Ok being new there are autoflowers & photoperiod.

Autos are neat but if you mess up they are easy to stunt, if stunted the yield goes out the window. Autos begin flowering on their own without flipping to 12/12 lighting. Most growers run 18/6 lights for the whole grow.

With photos you have control over when to initiate flower and they are more forgiving of mistakes, you have to trigger them to flower by switching lights to 12/12. Most run 18/6 then flip to 12/12 for flower

every seed company normally lists breeders estimate on how long to flower but it’s generally accepted that breeders give early estimates..... so the actual run time may be a few weeks longer than breeders estimate

You can get indica to flower for as little as 40 days to the finish line.

Most are 50-70 days in flower. Sativa are longer typically.

You can let them flower longer for a different medicinal effect as well.
