No More than 9 tops. Honestly 6 would be ur best bet in that space. There will be lots of large leaves fighting for light and shading each other out with 9. The I'm concerned about the height issue. As racefan pointed out that the footprint or circumference of the pot or canopy (whichever is greater) is a concern with the # of plants if ur thinking of LSTing.
