How to make a Clone?

Hi All, I have tried twice to take a clone from a plant and have not been successful. Why? I take a cutting just under a node, then cut at the node then place the cutting end into a rooting powder for a minute to make sure the end node is covered with powder then put it into a peat (soil) pot in a cup and the peatpot is moist, which I keep moist and put all by either sunlight (window) or by a lamp. Plant seems to go thru shock and starts to die. What am I doing wrong? I can grow from seeds = good, but clones never take! I grow outdoors - on a balcony, too. Thanks for any ideas. =Judy=

Clippings don't really do well under direct sunlight, they need more of a greenhouse environment.(high humidity levels) Are you using a humidity dome? Do you foliar spray often? A clipping normally takes 7 to 14 days to take root .

Thanks, for the info.! I'll have to try again via a "greenhouse" dome/set-up! That's what I'm doing wrong, I guess + need to spray, too. =Judy=
