Hrenklin's First Grow Ever: WW, Soil, Mars TSW2000

Welcome to my first grow ever. I've done my research and am already a couple weeks in, just been too busy to post a journal already, still on a bit of fine tuning.

History:
I've been around weed for a couple decades now. I dont smoke personally (well on slight occasion) but all my closest friends do. So I thought, why not put my patients, and my vast experience as a chef to good use for for everyone benefit. About 3-4 months ago I started researching everything so what makes successful grows. I covered as much as I thought came to mind. Read through hundreds of grow journals, checked out my friends plants, and read 3 very extensive books, the cannabis grow bible, ed rosenthal's growers handbook, and marijuana horticulture fundamentals.

While researching I build up my expandable funds and bought everything I needed to get started. So here we go with the specs.

Setup:

4x4 grow tent
412 cam 6" exhaust fan
6" x 18" carbon filter
5" duct fan intake
Mars hydro TWS 2000W LED light
FFOF ocean forest 4:1 perlite
6" monkey fan
Autopots 15L x4
4x white widow

I am growing at my best friends place since I live in a shoebox. I wanted an enclosed tent with enough room to max out with 4 plants. After setting up the tent with the exhaust and light it was looking great but had too much negative pressure so I picked up the 5" intake and brought the pressure to just a little negative which is perfect. The carbon filter might be a bit much, but it should really knock out the odors and leaves room for expansion. I'm not going to be able to check on my plants every single day as my best friend lives an hour away. And after doing some more research I found the perfect solution. I picked up the autopots 4x15l system, and going to transplant into that in a week or 2. I also picked up a smart power bar and smart hydrometer to be able to monitor and adjust my tent when I cant make it there. Essentially trying to automate the growth with a live checking in and filling the reservoir twice a week.

Now onto the start:

After setting up my tent I placed the 4 seed directly into a small 1/2 liter mix of perlite and FFOF 75% and perlite mixture. The were popped and about 1inch tall after the first week. I had my buddy taking care of the watering till I made it to his place. After looking at his plants I'm looking at some colouring issues and his auto flowers just arent going into flowering yet. I'm thinking it's a ph problem. Get a ph pen and its 7.8ph. It's been another week, I'm noticing my girls are doubling In size every other day. I've only got a few pictures to start but I'm loving the growth, I've potted them up into 2g containers, and in a week or 2 I'm going to put up again into the autopot I'm just waiting to be delivered tomorrow before going to get new pics of my plants.

Heres the porn for everyone

Well I got in to visit my girls, and clean up my tent. They really took well to the trainspotting and have grown dramatically. I topped them and placed them on the floor with the light 18" above them.

I picked up a couple of useful tools to help monitor my room from home 1h away. A wifi enabled thermo/hydro meter. And a wifi power bar. Itll allow me to program my timers for flips, and turn on and off my fans to let the girls soak into the co2 bag with a 15m exhaust cycle every couple of hours

This update. Well things are looking a little worse, I'm still getting lots of new growth and my plants are bushy as hell, but I'm also getting alot of yellowy crispy leaves. Potentially potassium deficiency or ph levels I'm not totally sure. But I've now moved into MC nutes and preparing to jump into autopots next week Wednesday.

I'm going to start spreading it out in its final pot. I topped it last week. Trying not to stress it too much while I work on my learning learning curve.
everything looks great so far. when you flip later on youll be surprised how tall they get in such a short time. White widow is a great strain and very forgiving in the grow. She's smokes great too.

I've read lots of grows about them, thats why I chose them for my first grow. I'm prepared for them to grow alot. Only around 9 inches now. At 18 inches I'll be prepared to flip they switch. They have a very tight node spacing.

clone i took off my widow #1. She's half way through flower. When I first clipped it she was 2 weeks in flower. I put her back in veg and grew her out a little.

Looking great, I set my expectations low, so I hope for half as nice as that. I'm hoping all the feedback and help from this forums blows my expectations away

Been a few days, finally got out to see my plants in person, they really took to the MC nutes. Bushy as can be, repotted them into their final resting place before I head out of the country try for a few days.

I gave them alot of love today, upgrading them to the autopots, gave them a good feeding. I won't see them in person till sunday when I setup the air pump and water pump. I made sure to put the resevoir outside of my tent and have it sitting on a cooler till I find a decent stand for it (IKEA already in kind)

A quick little update, they love their new home. I picked up an air pump and water pump so when I get back from my tournament they can get the finishing touches on environment.

The new growth seems a night light on the color. But its growing like crazy so I don't think I should be overly concerned.

Well the weekend is finishing, I got home from the states and first thing this morning I drove to go see my plants and do a couple upgrades for the tent.

My girls are a little upset with me, I gave them a dry period after a super soaking on wednesday. I'm hoping the roots have reached into the autopots base so it can start feeding on their own. 1 of my plants was showing some deficiency, I diagnosed it as PK deficiency aswell as a zinc deficiency according to the charts. 2 other plants were getting some yellowing leaves. And all the leaves were drooping and dry. I gave the soil a light watering.

For the environment upgrades I set up the air pump for the autopot air domes, got a water pump to keep the resevoir moving around, and lastly I picked up a wifi camera. Since I'm spending numerous days away from my tent i figure i check the video feed instead of bugging my friend to do it.
