Hundreds of ganja fans have descended on Cardiff for a pro-marijuana march.

There was a pungent aroma left hanging in the air as the second annual Million Marijuana March took to the streets. Around 350 demonstrators, mostly aged under 30 and good natured, were aiming to raise awareness of their call to legalise registered distribution to adults of cannabis.

But the campaigners were accused of handing out misleading leaflets which claimed cannabis could reverse multiple sclerosis.

The good-natured crowd was made up mostly of students but included a handful in wheelchairs and others in suits and ties.

They carried banners claiming: "No Victim, No Crime" and "Cannabis Saves" as bobbies kept a discrete watch.

It's the second year running that Pontprennau office worker Rhys Morgan, 26, has organised the march.

He insisted: "No causal links have been proven between cannabis use and psychosis or schizophrenia. Cannabis has been demonised but it's not harmful in the way they'd have us believe.

"We want a public debate about its undoubted medical benefits and decriminalisation of an industry that's worth £40 billion."

But Cardiff resident and MS sufferer Jodie Watson, 27, was furious after following the march and being handed a leaflet claiming cannabis could reverse MS.

She said: "That's so misleading — I'm absolutely furious that they're raising false hopes.

"In some cases cannabis is said to reduce some of the symptoms but it certainly doesn't reverse the condition."
