In Illinois, medical marijuana applications are pouring in after it became legal to sell at dispensaries in November.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced this week 3600 patients have been approved for the pilot program -- including 22 children.

Advocates say the increase is likely because more potential patients are realizing medical marijuana is finally on shelves across Illinois.

However, some patients may have to drive a few hours to pick up their medicine.

There are seven dispensaries in the state and the closest one to the Tri-State is just outside of Marion.
