Yeah and i learned that my single sided 1000w is not as good as the double sided bulb, althought since im probably going to switch to LED and found that LED can give the same or better result than HPS double sided im wondering how much more yeilds i would be able to achieve.SOG can yield big numbers
It does but since im trying to lower my power bill it woudnt be the right upgrade to keep the same yeild, instead i am considering either building a COB LED array of 2X (16 X 50W COB) so i would draw 1600W total instead of 2000W, thats a slight power reduction plus it doesnt nearly make as much heat,If you have the space a double ended HPS will outproduce the leds.
Now that's pricey! After much research I have finally come up with what lighting I will use for my next grow, it will be an array of 32 cob, so 2X grid of 4x4 cob.
The cob selected are CXM-22-HS-11-54-AC30-P1-7, I hesitated and contacted the manufacturer as the MIGRO LED are using the gen4 chip and this one is the gen3 but the manufacturer told me there would be more light in the specific spectrum for plant growth with the HS series compared to the gen4 series. I'm sure eventually there will be a gen4 HS version of the chip, it's just not there yet.
Each cob will be driven at a maximum of 56W so 51.5V at 1.1A, I intend to dim it down as this would pull about 900W for 16 cob.
The driver selected is HLG-240H-54A as I'm powering my system with 120V, there will be 1 driver per 4 cob all located remotely outside the tent for a total of 8 driver.
The chip holder is a LUMAWISE Z50 HOLDER 2828 GENERAL
Some thermal pad THERM PAD 228.6MMX228.6MM GRAY
I'm still looking for the heatsink but I'm trying to find something under 20$ that is passive cooling, maybe this Heatsink?
Will use some L aluminium bracket 1in and make the frame to support the heatsink.
Will run some 18 AWG solid core to each series of cob in parallel from the driver outside the room.
It's not cheap, I'm expecting about $3500 total but if I'm saving $600 a year in power after 5 year it's paid off and those are expected to last at least 8 years.
Yea they are doing well i think, i noticed a bit of dried roots on the top of the root mass on one of them so might have a clogging nozzle but with 6 nozzle in the tote and 1 plant filling almost the whole thing with roots even a few clog nozzle wont kill the plant.Looking super in your garden
