Indie Grower's First Ever Grow In Closet: White Widow Auto In Regular Garden Soil, 50W LED Bulb, Advice Always Appreciated

Hello and Namaste for stopping by. I have been doing a lot of research on this site and have prepared a poor closet set-up with a 50W LED Bulb and some high quality garden soil. My White Widow seeds have germinated, planted in a plastic pot and now our girl "Bliss" is 5 days old so I decided it's time to start a journal. It is my first time growing when me and my wife decided to buy some seeds. So let's get started.

Grow space: 3.5 x 5 ft space in my closet. Pasted some white sheets on the walls to reflect maximum light, not yet installed a fan but thinking of buying 2 computer fans for the air circulation.

Attaching few pictures to introduce the journey so far.

Like I said me and my wife are rookies so advices are always appreciated! I will try and keep this thread alive till we get to smoke those sweet sticky buds!

Night 6th - "Bliss" is growing tall!

Checked the soil around her and it felt moist, so no drinks for the lady tonight. But I have noticed that she's gaining height like a giraffe despite of having my lights just inches away from her. Is this okay or should I be concerned?

Also, she seems to be developing the second node.

Hi indie, the moderator kindly moved you to the journals in progress.
This is where your journey to smoke your buds, belong.
She looks happy and what lights will you use for flowering?

Hi Angry Bird,

Thanks for stopping by and moving this thread to its right location. I haven't yet decided what lights will I use when she enters flowering as my country has limited options when it comes to indoor plantation equipments but I am thinking of adding four 28W CFL's along with green, red and blue lights to create a decent environment for her to bloom. Please suggest

Ok, is it possible for you to order and receive from abroad?
Or do we need to focus on what you can get in your country?
What is your budget? (no need to write alot, just in the lines of no limit- limited...)
You will need lots of light for flowering
I did grow with T8 lights, cfl and Led.
It takes a bit longer but it is an economical way to grow.

I would say my budget is limited and this one is an experimental grow! My country does allow me to purchase stuff from abroad, but this time we'll focus on products available here.

I see a lot of powerful LED's and CFL's in stores around.

Thanks

Ok, look up lumens needed to grow..
I am travelling at the moment so I can't.
You need more lights in the end.

Hey! I did some research on the web and found some full spectrum lights 28W each and they are made to support hydroponics. I am hoping if I buy one or two, it'll fetch me some good yield at the end.

Night 7th - Introducing UV light to my set-up!

Namaste!

Been reading this blog on Royal Queen Seeds website which says adding a UV light to your setup will keep your plant's growth healthy and helps creating a spectrum which supports high yields. A rookie will believe stuff, what do you guys have to say? Bliss has been doing great and I fed her 50ML RO water, don't know if I should buy nutrients for her as the soil is quite rich?

:peace:

Day 12th - Welcoming first Star Leaf!

Bliss has been growing since, a little slow but constant. At first I thought she's stunted but now she's showing her 3rd node, so I am a bit relaxed. My heart lies in her! No new nutrients as the soil has enough nutrition. Been watering her every 3rd day, I lift the pot to check if she needs a drink or not! Have added few more lights and now my closet has reached 7893 Lumens per sq ft, which as per few blogs is decent enough to raise one plant. Constantly struggling between my thoughts of buying a full spectrum bulb or adding 2 more cfl's. Need advice! I am not sure if I should order CalMag for her and when?, as when I compare her growth with other people's grow, she seems a little slow. But she's showing excellent green, been stretching herself every minute, so I am being hopeful. What do you say?

Adding images to show a recap of how she did last week

PS. Sorry about the image quality, though the brand claims they are best in the industry, some audacity!

They are too small..
If I remember correctly, you grow in soil.
Wait until they have grown 3rd node for any nutrients

I bought this soil from a famous gardener who's been growing exotic plants since decades and he said that this soil has all the required nutrients to grow herbs. He said it is a mix of Perlite, CoCo and soil from Himalayas! But still I have ordered an organic growth booster and fruit n flower fix from Bloom Buddy, not sure if you have ever heard of these products but they're my only option.

The products are just fine :)
Just let your babies grow more.
Your soil sounds great, so no need to give them anything for a long time

Noted. She is popping her third node now, will start feeding her organic grow booster from 5th node onwards.
