Notre Dame starting guard Kyle McAlarney was arrested early Friday on a charge of marijuana possession, police said.

No. 19 Notre Dame (11-1) closes out its non-conference schedule Saturday against Stony Brook at the Joyce Center.

Irish sports information director Bernadette Cafarelli said she had been told McAlarney, "as of right now, is in the starting lineup for [Saturday's] game. Could the pendulum swing tomorrow? Maybe."

In Notre Dame's 101-51 victory Thursday night over Rider, the sophomore scored 21 points on seven three-pointers.

He is averaging 10.3 points per game.

In addition to potential discipline from coach Mike Brey, whom Cafarelli said would have no comment, McAlarney could face action from the student affairs committee at Notre Dame.
