Is it safe to use a HID 600w for under lighting?

My girls got bushier than expected and have slowed down growth rapidly from all the shading of her bigger leaves. Is it safe to use a spare HID 600W underneath? They’re about 30-40cm off the ground?

Also is it safe in general to have a HID on the ground without setting the place on fire?

It doesn’t make much sense IMO. Cannabis likes to grow upwards. The plants don’t know how to grow downwards
Leaves are engines of growth. Generally speaking leaves cause plants to grow bigger, not slow them down. The outer canopy of your plants is where the action is, not the undergrowth. Millions of years of evolution behind that principle.

Having a 600w under the plants seems like it’s likely to roast them.

600w HID will make a lot of heat. No way would I put one on the floor.

I watched a video before, which mentioned that usually they will put the HPS light around 30'' above plants. Not sure if this will help.

I run my 1000w HPS about 18 inches above the canopy.

We haven't grow under HPS before, thanks for the heads up. I watched the youtube video only, guess we need to check more .
