Is "Smoking Pot" a "Thing to Do" or a "Part of your Life"

I have been smoking pot for more than twenty years. I do not get any less high from a good bong rip now than I did twenty years ago. My head still spins and I still think up goofy shit.

That said, I am able to function completely while high. I rewire electric guitars while high. I go to the grocery store high, and come home with more than Frito's and Otter Pops. I remember plans and events well in advance of their dates, and am exceedingly punctual.

In my house, an offer of a smoke is akin to an offer of something to drink or a place to sit. I leave a loaded bong next to my toilet before I go to bed at night, and include marijuana in the household budget.

Marijuana, to me, is much more than "something to do". It is an enhancement to every aspect of my life, from leveling my mood to increasing my enjoyment of the birds singing in my back yard to sharpening my focus on a project.

Thoughts?

Smoking is definately not just, "something to do." It's a part of my life. I don't know what I would do, if I had to go without, or if it became scarce. It's a way of life. A culture even.. It's who I am!

For me, it is something to do on occasion. I'm pretty high on life but love to enjoy the relaxation that pot gives me. Luckily I don't have any medical conditions other than using it as a stress reducer at the end of the day with a good soak in the tub listening to some great music. But I do have many friends that use it all day-every day, for medicinal or pleasure, and like yourself 'get it done' so to speak. Long live all our reasons to enjoy this gift giving plant...:peace:

No wonder people who've never smoked think pot is addictive. You know very well you could go on without weed. You sound like you couldn't go on without marijuana - like an addict. If you replaced weed with any other intoxicant in your OP, it would sound like an addict to most people here and everywhere. This kind of attitude towards it is holding the movement back. YOU may know it's not addictive, but we're not trying to convince you to legalize it.

Depends on which study you use, FACT.

I think it depends on the person. Some people are more inclined to become attached to the use of marijuana because they may have an 'addictive personality'. For someone who uses it for just pure enjoyment and not medicinal...they may or may not become addictive...I don't believe it has anything to do with the chemicals in the plant but more the make up of the individual. Of course, if you use it for medicinal purposes you need it to help your symptoms, does that really make it addictive, maybe in a sense but not in a negative way... :Namaste:

Cannabis is not addictive in the sense that alcohol, nicotine, or crack is addictive; but it can be addictive in the sense that gambling and/or pornography can be addictive.

Hey Y'all, Smoke2Js here. I could not imagine a day without love, or pot. And I would not want to try. When I wake, my body is stiff and sore from working in the garden and riding my cruzer bike. I smoke one joint, my bowels move about half way through (gross I know). The med I take for depression has a constipation side affect, so does my pain med. Now hungry, I eat breakfast . (I could never do this on my meds alone, I tried. I could not eat until 1 pm, I was loosing weight fast and not in a healthy way.) Then an after breakfast doobie. hence the handle, its a nickname my roomies gave me. Then when I am feelin capable I work in the garden for two hours, taking breaks as needed for pain management (stretching, more pot) and water. As I work, I sweat and burn fat, releasing the compounds back into my blood. I rest for two hours then ride my bike for two miles. Then lunch and more garden as before. When the sun sets, I am dirty, happy, tired, and sore, but not hungry. I smoke 2 more and , bam where's dinner? Oh, I forgot to order! Good thing great sushi is a phone call away. Then guitar jams with my roomies. I am a lucky, blessed, happy man. I owe allot of it to pot. Long one and winded I am sure but, I felt a peek inside the life of Smoke2Js would better answer your question.

If the chioce is doing something straight or with a buzz. A buzz will win out everytime because the most boring things are always better with a buzz.So I guess it's a part of my life.

First of all, holeysmokey, sorry I have to use your post as an example because I'm really going to go hard on this subject. In fact, it probably wouldn't take me long to find another post to use as an example because it's everywhere in our movement, it's just convenient though.

I know using proper grammar and punctation is for nerds, but how can you take someone seriously when they type something up like that? If I were a senator and I got an e-mail saying that, I'd laugh my ass off. This site is suppose to help marijuana being legalized. I don't think it'd be a very good idea to start sending people here to get facts on it, when it's full of none sensical babble.

I joined this forum a very long time ago. I don't post very often anymore, just have a look around every couple months and post very rarely. Most people on here only stick around actively for a year or two then they're gone. If you stay here long enough you'll notice that it starts to be the same thing over and over again with the same amount of "I have no idea what that guy was trying to say in that post." I think a forum that would give some sort of infractions for posting alphabetical garbage would be a nice change of pace. Also, a crowd that creates threads more than just "what gets you higher?"(I know there are deep threads, but c'mon, don't split hairs).

Spelling a word right and using the right use of the word won't make you look soft. Using apostrophes and commas won't ruin your street cred. I know not everyone had the opportunities to go to school and college like I did, but if you're posting on this site you have access to a computer and the internet. Look somethings up if you're not sure, learn how to properly use words. Bettering yourself is never a bad thing. You guys may not think it's important, but if you're trying to convince someone weed isn't bad and you say something like that, it's playing into the stigma that stoners are idiots, no one wants that.

The people that make the laws in this country aren't the most brilliant people, for the most part, but they're certainly not the dumbest. If we want to shake the pothead stigma a majority of the people will have to educate themselves a little better to show people it doesn't make you stupid. Respect your enemy, everything is in their hands. I don't think we're in the position to mock them with "dude, how dumb are you? Weed's, like, totally cool, bro."

Now, I'm not perfect, never said I was, I make mistakes. I was high when I wrote this and I'd feel comfortable letting people read it just to show you can function properly. Other posts... god no. Sorry, it had to be said.

PS. Saying you don't want to and can't go without weed is very, very, very bad too. If you've never smoked weed and all you have to go by is government propaganda and you start telling them that? Holy shit, you would make me never want to touch it. If you want to prove it's not addictive, don't make it sound like it is.
