Is The Flowering Period Always 12 weeks?

Sup everyone , still new to growing and I’m a little confused on how the flowering period works.

I’m growing Bruce Banner and I’ve had them on veg for about 4-5 months. Leafly and other websites say that this strain flowed in 8-10 weeks. And sometimes to harvest a little early for better results...

My question is, is the 8-10 week period a measure for when growing in veg for an 8 week cycle, or will this strain Bruce Banner flower in 8-10 weeks, no matter how long in veg?

You know what I mean?...

If I grow 2 of the same strain, one for 8 weeks and one for 16 weeks, would they both still be done flowering in 8-10 weeks?

Not sure I fully understand what you mean but the 8-10 week flowering bit is from the start of flowering. So you veg for however long and once flowering initiates it'll be 8-10 weeks until they are ready to harvest. Your plants are well into flowering there. I'd guess about halfway through.

Lol, you answered it though! Thanks.
I was confused on if the flowering period had a longer cycle depending on how long you vegetate your plant.
It’s hard for me to word the question, but you helped ty

the 8 to 10 week mentioned is only a guide and estimate . so many conditions will determine flowering time. most folks agree that one must check the trichomes to know when to harvest

cheers friend

No worries. What @nivek said too. Use what the breeder states as a guideline but the trichomes will tell you when they're ready for harvest.

12 weeks no, many indicas are ready at 8 or 10 weeks, some sativas need 14 to 18 weeks. You simply add the flowering period to how ever long you veg the plant for. So in the example say the breeder says 12 weeks, you grow this12 week strain and it could be ready in 12 weeks if you run 12/12 lights but it would be smaller since it went straight to flower. So most folks will veg for a month or two to build size and then still need 12 weeks of flower to finish the plant. It may take longer to finish the plant than the breeders estimate, that’s very common.

In fact 2 plants of the same strain may mature differently because of the variety of phenotypes. But most growers agree that breeder estimates are very optimistic and indicate the early side of the harvest window. It’s just a guide but most add a week or two perhaps more beyond the estimate to get budswell and proper ripeness. Like nivek & vetsmoke both said - Estimates are just that, keep growing but watch the pistils & trichs of course for timing.

I am pretty sure I know what you are asking based on the first msg and you liked the answer that @VetSmoke85 gave.

Example. If I start a female plant and grow it for 4 weeks. Then I take a cutting off of it and stick it in some dirt. After 8 more weeks I have the first plant which is 12 weeks old and the clone is 4 weeks old. By this time the mother plant and the clone are sexually mature enough to flower. So I start the flowering process and both of them will look like they are running a neck to neck horse race and will be ready to harvest within days of each other.

Thanks! I’m a little worried now though. Didn’t realize how fast everything was going. I’m on week 10 starting Wednesday. But I haven’t gotten a chance to flush properly I don’t think. I did flush, but not as much as I wanted to. if the trichomes aren’t quite there yet, should I try and flush them again before I harvest?

No need to flush if you don't want to. Many people here don't, including me. Keep feeding right up to harvest. There's quite a few threads on the topic here. No you won't taste nutrients in your buds.

Hell yeah I appreciate that! I’ll give em a lil more time and continuing watering and see what happens :) thanks everyone!
