JahRasta's First Grow - DWC - CFL - 5 Strains

Hey everyone.

I just recently started the seeds for my first grow. They are the Indica G pack from Greenhouse Seeds (bought at a local seed bank). The strains are: White Widow, White Rhino, TrainWreck, The Church, AMS.

The nutrients I have are from DNF, two-part grow and bloom nutes. I got some monster bloom or something too for some additional growth later on. The bucket is from WalMart, I think it's like 60 litres / 16 gallons?

I put the seeds into pH water for about 8-12 hours and then put them into pH soaked rockwool on Monday. That means it's been 3 days (Thursday). So far, Trainwreck is the only one to show any progress (huge taproot and a sprout as of this morning). The other 4 seeds may have been a bit too deep, so I moved them up a little bit (carefully) and I'm not going to touch them for a few more days.

I'm starting to worry about the seeds not germinating, but sometimes it takes a while so I'll be patient for another few days... unless I should take them out and try to germinate in a paper towel before it's too late?

Anyway, pictures will be up soon, here goes nothin!

make sure the rockwool are not sitting in water, the roots need some air too. Nice bong, don't get ahead of yourself.....when they sprout, keep the light right above the seedlings (like 2-4 inches) for good dense growth.

The rockwool are sitting in a tupperware container where they are sprayed every few days with 5.5pH water.

Thanks, the bong is beautiful, isn't she? My last bong (named Jah Rasta by no coincidence) broke over the summer and so did my heart. I promised I'd buy a new one in September and this is what we found stashed away in behind all the other bongs on sale.

Anyway, opened the girls up this morning to check for progress. White has a nice long taproot, and green just popped a bit of one. Yellow hasnt even cracked yet and black looks as if it has a touch of a root that may have just died.

Just damp, not soaking wet,(I call it rotwool for that reason) and don't open them up. Sure way to break the root off. Let the seeds chill....they will repay you.

Re: JahRasta's first grow - DWC, CFL, 5 strains

White Widow and Church (white and green respectively) sprouted today! Yellow still hasn't budged, and black (which I now think is silver -- oops) still looks the same. I took them both out of rockwool and put them into the damp paper towel carefully. Hopefully they'll germinate by tomorrow. Otherwise, I guess I'm just growing three plants (one of which I'm not sure is trainwreck or white rhino... hopefully white rhino).

How did that get messed up? I think from day 1 we forgot the order the colors were in, and from then on, it's been a matter of looking at the seed and remembering which one is where. Now I added some colored pipe-cleaners to label them. However, this morning when I took out the "black" seed, it was silver. The reason I don't think it's paint fading is because the rockwool all around the seed is colored silver as well. Oops.

Trainwreck (/maybe white rhino) is doing well Growing new roots and the first two leaves (cotyl... whatever) are looking green and healthy.

I think my 16 gallon bucket might be too big, though I'm going to put 6 gallons of water in and see what kind of water line I get.

Green (The Church) sprouted

Look how well she's growing

Hard to see, but I swear it sprouted

Yellow and Black (maybe silver) in the germination

Update: I went away for a weekend and my buddy didn't water them enough. They all died except for one. I had 2 seeds left so I tossed them into cubes, and we found a bagseed the other day that I germinated overnight. This means that one plant is wayyyy ahead of the rest (on half nutes already).

I'll be putting her into a small gallon or so bucket with an airstone so that the resevoir is smaller than the 6gallon bucket I already have. I figure maybe I'll grow her nice and big and then clone her? We'll see what happens I guess.

From that first batch, I only kept the one plant. She just finished week 7 of grow I believe, and I switched her into flower yesterday. Same grow nutes, but switched up the lights.

From the pictures, she's about 23 - 25" tall now. Since I have to switch the lights every 12 hours, I decided to make my own 'grow controller' thing. 4 controllable outlets (up to 8 piggy backed for a total of 32 controllable outlets), temp, humidity, water level sensors, etc. It's gonna be cool.

To test it, I've got a batch of OG Kush starting up, I'll probably start a new journal for those ones. I got a lot of experience from growing this plant up until this point, so I think I'll be able to have two rooms set up now: one for flower (widow) and one for grow (kush). When the widow is ready to harvest, the kush will be ready to flower, and ill start a new batch of some other strain! Cheers!

Jesus, I started these 2 days ago! And not a single one of the seeds would sink in 24 hours. I always thought that if the seeds didnt sink that they were bad, but it turns out they do quite well!

OG Kush !

Looks like much better luck with the second batch. Keep us posted! What's your plan for the grow? (veg time, flower time, lights, nutes, etc?)

The second grow is going to be pretty much the same as the first. I already have all the equipment. I'll veg until they grow to about 18" or so (so they don't crowd the grow space). 8 CFLs most likely, DNF nutes.

I'm pumped for the Widow. I hear the pump running 24/7 and it makes me want to sneak a peak! I can't wait till the point where it starts getting covered in white!

Here's the progress almost 2 weeks later

I thought it was pretty cool how the fertilizer (DNF Bloom Fortifier) turns the water different colors too.

Hopefully I'll have a special treat for early in the new year!

It looks like its about time to harvest. I estimated around the 20th, so about one more week. I'm going to let the plant drink whats left in the res and then probably flush it. I'll have to do some more reading to be sure.

Here's some pictures from the last few weeks

Here's some that I just snapped. Should I be doing anything before harvest?

And some special fudge I made recently haha

Plants are looking good. I'm subbed for this one.

I agree with 253Cheifin we need more pics. BTW how was the fudge?

I cropped out the White Widow. The OG are growing super fast. I need to look into trimming because I'm sort of disappointed with the yield of my first plant. Maybe I need more light during flower... I'll find out in a few months when I do the second round of plants!

There was another small box with the large and really small nugs, all in all it filled about 5 mini mason jars. Not good, but not bad. Enough for me and my buddies to smoke for a while.

Now, its got to cure for a month! In the meantime...
