Janx's 1st SOG under CFL's

I started with 300 seeds and I have culled down to 65 plants right now. I'm just starting to be able to find the males so they can be removed, too. All the materials were scrounged on the cheap and slapped together.

There we go...finally got the hang of this. I know they seem small, but I tried to make up for that in the number growing. Just trying to get a decent yield with the slow trickle of cash I've had to work with. I'm probably going to add a 600w HPS this weekend along with an exhaust fan. The central air blows into the room already.

lookin good man i just did the same thing 2 to a pot with some skunk i only did 3 pots all i had room for im hopein for at least one lady i can clone from, all healthy so far --good luck

I'll be installing a small fan (exhaust) I bought at Lowe's today. I gave less than $20 for the fan, duct tape, and a 3in x 8ft piece of duct pipe. I also managed to snag a 400w MH KIT for $102. Mayer Electric Supply is a wholesale place for industrial, but we have a huge warehouse here in Bama that I can shop at retail. VERY cheap. "BossMan" should be proud.

I'll try to keep up with this thread (adding pics) and hopefully show what I'm doing tomorrow. I'll probably keep the CFL's but not the 4ft's when I add the 400w in the morning. As you can see...it's getting pretty hard to water the one's in the back. Normally, I just pull out 5 pots from the center to create a walkway, but they're growing SO fast that I'm overgrowing my space. Oh well, for $100 I'll just add another 400w in a HPS soon. Or start finding some kind of Conversion bulb....has anyone tried them before? I'd like some more info before blowing my sparse cash right now. I'm trying to hold off the upgrading until my first harvest in June. If you look at the pics above, you can see another batch I started from seed (I know, I know...cloning is better, but MAN that was some of the S*** that killed Elvis!)

Whoops....they were all started under a ready-made Wal-Mart 2ft grow-cfl tube, but they got so leggy I had to repot them twice. I buried everything up to the first (Dicot) leaves and stopped the stretching with the lights I snagged from one of my work shops. Once again buying cheap Daylight (sunshine?) 4ft bulbs at Lowe's for $6 a 2-pack and going 24/0 all the way through the first day of Flowering. Which was 4/14/09

05/01/09 2nd Week Flowering

I decided to go ahead and rig up the 400w MH without a hood for now. I've taken these pics to show where things are standing so far. This is a CHEAP and simple way to go with my few options. Whatcha think? $12 Bathroom Exhaust Fan, $6 in an Exhaust Hose, $20 in Wal-Mart Chain, $20 ($.50/per Pot x 40), and $102 for the Light/Ballast Combo.

So here's the Rigging....simple enough?

Sorry....trying to cover the bulb in the next few shots.

I just compared the two overhead shots....wow. I pulled 13 Males as of tonight and they still filled the space that fast. Just hadn't noticed so much growth. Like the big lanky Sativa in the back right, against the wall.

A SoG-style grow from seeds. Interesting.

Like the cheapness factor. +REPS

Just thought you could use some green "porn"

These shots are from today....5/5/09 not the misleading cam date. I was just showing off the branching on some of my Sativas. Bear in mind they were all started in March and there's probably about 10 strains total.

I hate that they stretched so much but that last pic has ONE plant in it. Look close. Anyway....on a side note, does anyone live in the DEEP South? Ya know...where the other four seasons apply? Hot, Heat, Humid, and Mosquitoes?

Don't get me wrong...I've made quite a few mistakes in this, but I don't think harvest is going to be all that bad. Being that I have so many kinds there, harvest can stratch over several weeks. That should allow me to rotate the smaller/less developed plants into better light.
