Donya Kennedy, 25, of Stamford, Neville Brown, 22, of 25 Chestnut St. and Richard Spence, 30, of 10 Winfield Court were arrested at Spence's residence Nov. 1 on charges of possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell and conspiracy.

According to police, the Drug Enforcement Administration contacted members of the Special Services Division in the early afternoon of Nov. 1 regarding a suspicious package that had arrived at UPS on Martin Luther King Drive. Police said the DEA Drug Task Force, which is based in Bridgeport, was checking various packages coming off UPS trucks with a drug-sniffing dog. The dog indicated a "positive hit" on a package, Police Lt. Timothy Murphy said during press briefing Nov. 2.

The package's destination, 10 Winfield Court, was under surveillance by undercover officers, and at 4 p.m., a "controlled delivery" was conducted, Murphy said. After the package was delivered, Special Services officers and members of the DEA Drug Task Force surrounded the residence, knocked on the rear door several times and identified themselves, Murphy said. The officers could hear voices inside and smelled marijuana, he said. Entry to the residence was forced, and Kennedy, Brown and Spence were located inside. One of them was found in a second-floor bathroom trying to flush a large amount of marijuana down the toilet, Murphy said.

A search-and-seizure warrant was executed, and 40 pounds of marijuana was found inside of the house, 17 pounds of which had been delivered in the package discovered at UPS, Murphy said. Seized in addition to the marijuana were three vehicles, seven plasma television sets and $1,769 in cash, he said.

Brown was held in lieu of $210,000 bond, Spence in lieu of $250,000 bond and Kennedy in lieu of $100,000 bond. All three were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
