Kentucky Marijuana Legalization

As of 2023, medical marijuana is legal in Kentucky, but it is still illegal for recreational use. The state has approved the use of medical marijuana for certain conditions, and patients with those conditions can obtain a medical marijuana card from a licensed physician. To become a medical marijuana patient in Kentucky, individuals must have a qualifying condition, a written certification from a licensed physician, and register with the Kentucky Department of Public Health. The state also has a list of approved dispensaries where patients can purchase medical marijuana.

Hi Helen and good day to you.
Thanks for the latest development going on in Frankfort and the state. As a Kentuckian, born and raised in the bluegrass state I can attest there are a lot of growers in the state, as well as some fine harvest taken from the soil.

And, its about time the legislators got their act together and consider the benefits of MM for their constituents.

As a by note, I see you are a newbie member and wish you a welcome to the site and hope to see more of you.

It’s better than nothing but living in a recreational state is better. CL🍀

being that kentucky is the "blue grass state" it would not surprise me that they only allow the blue strains:
Blue Cookies - Blue Dream - Blueberry - Blue Cheese - Blue Mystic ........

Actually, it is still illegal in Kentucky. Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order for an ongoing pardon for anyone caught with less than eight ounces of cannabis. The difference is that more than eight ounces makes it a felony. You have to have a letter from your doctor stating that you meet one of the 21 listed requirements. And you have to keep your receipt from where you purchased it. It has to be from a licensed dispensary that sells recreationally. That leaves out Ohio since they have a medically-only law and they sell only to the residents of that state. So, everyone in the state of Kentucky has to drive to Illinois, Michigan, or Virginia. But, there is hope that the Kentucky General Assembly is currently working on passing it medically for this term. Even Sen. Damon Thayer (R) stated that he wasn't going to fight it much longer. I guess he is getting tired of being the voice of opposition. After all, he does own a distillery. Mitch McConnell could be a problem.
