Kief Screens, Boxes and mesh sizes

If I am getting mesh screens at the craft store to make a box or jar for my trim, what size screen and material works best? Metal, silk, ...? I plan on using a large mason jar with a screen on top to make some kief out of my trim this spring before I use it for ice hash and butter. I just need some do's and don'ts from those who have done it. And Please do not suggest BHO or anything other that kief, ice hash or butter on this thread, the idea of using butane to get a concentrate almost makes the cannabis seem like an illicit drug. Thanks in advance for the help.

You could go a dry ice method to get kief from your trim.

I understand how you feel about the BHO, however if purged properly you can really get great and safe results.
