Laguna Beach Marijuana Dispensary Raided by Feds

The Laguna Beach Holistic Center, a medical marijuana dispensary at 2007 S. Coast Hwy., was raided by the Drug Enforcement Agency around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Federal agents detained two employees of the center, but released them without charges, said Special Agent Sarah Pullen. Charges may be filed against them or others in the case, which is still under investigation, Pullen said.

The agents seized an unidentified quantity of marijuana and edible products containing marijuana from the location, Pullen said.

Under Federal law, marijuana possession or consumption is illegal. California law permits dispensaries to provide marijuana by prescription, but the DEA does not recognize that law, Pullen said.

Pullen could not comment on why the DEA targeted the Laguna Beach dispensary. The warrant remains under seal because the investigation is not complete, she said.

Laguna Beach Police officers assisted in the raid by providing perimeter security for the some dozen federal agents.

I understand but don't accept the Fed's actions. They feel omnipotent and in no way accountable to the wished of the citizens of California. Their reign of terror is coming to an abrupt end, right after next months election.

What really ticks me off is the local and state police. How many times do they have to be told by the courts that they are not enforcers of Federal law. The state of California allows MMJ, local cops need to get over it.

Previous Mayor Kathleen Blackburn of Laguna Beach condoned the use of SWAT teams for MMJ patients with as little as 1 plant, (source Mnews).

Current Mayor Jane Egly, (949) 497-2027, jhegly@aol.com and Mayor Pre Tem Cheryl Kinsman, (949) 499-2900, cheryl@LoveLagunaBeach.com should be hearing from all those citizens who think the politicians should feel the sting when they don't comply with the law. We need to vote in those that respect the initatives and bounce the rest.
