Hey brother, looks like your summer prep is right on track! All those Durban’s are looking very happy.
I’m sure the deck okes were checking your Transkei stud out!

Thanks boet. Yeah it was pretty funny. There were a few from Durban and one from Malawi. The Durban guys were like ahh this one is from my home. Pretty impressed they picked only the Durban. The Malawi guy got it wrong guessing one of the thinner leaf transkei. To be fair they are quite similar looking with Malawi having usually thinner leaf. I had a chuckle . In Stanford for 3 nights which is beautiful. On a sheep farm which is perfect for growing huge plants hills for days

..Just saying.. have a good day yo.

Plants are getting ready to take off.

You gonna grow the Durban indoors??

I ask cause I always have height issues or well ceiling issues. They never high enough.

No they will mostly be outside with cuts of the males and pollination happening inside then sprayed down with water and put out to finish the seeds. Some cuts will also be kept inside to go out later for flowering when the temps are lower. The cuts I put out later last season where incredibly tight and full of terps. They were excellent. So I'll be doing some of that again :)

Happy Friday to all. So back from a few relaxing days away. The sun has been out and belting down the last few days. So first some pics of the transkeis. They are finally growing out of the big "starter" leaves and a couple looking super delicate and pretty. I've transplanted a few from the communal pot into their own 10lt bags. There is one beauty that has started to flower.. let's see what she does. Then a pic of the LSD flowering along at its own pace. No trichs yet. The SSH is also going on with flowering and she smells so sweet. Like super sweet bubblegum. Not sure if that's normal? Frosting up on the fan and sugar leaves already too.

Then a little of what's happening inside.
Miss Sticky and wild lady seem to appreciate the extra light. Getting ready to let them get a little vertical in a week or so before they go outside with the gas lantern routine. The sprouts are no longer sprouts and aside from the gnats are looking great.

Bubblegum smell is very common in all hybrids, I encounter it quite often myself.

So I tested some Durban pollen I had stored in my freezer on a couple little winter buds and it's a go. Pollen collected from a heavy male grown out from seeds my grandfather collected and left me. It's a Land race sativa from the area that's now known as the greater St Lucia wetlands park (Isimangaliso wetlands park). This was in the late 50s. Pollen is over 1.5 years so surprised it's viable. Have a goodie all.

Man, that is quite the plant! 13 bladed leaves are a good sign. Will you be keeping any of that pollen or just let him do his thing?
I'll collect a vial or two as I may want to back cross him with his progeny. I may alsö pollinate a few of my other landraces just to see what I get but I prefer keeping all my landraces pure and true so that will be a little side project. Currently there are 5 females just about ready for pollination and one that's going to get dusted as soon as the weather is good for a few days. I'll also keep a cut of him in veg just in case I decide to release some of these seeds down the line . Lots of blades equals big plant in my opinion.
