Lawyers for a man convicted in a drug trafficking case said on Friday that he committed the crime and he will do the time.

Attorneys for David Garrett said that he will not help federal prosecutors in a case against a self-proclaimed heiress accused of smuggling hundreds of pounds of marijuana into central Ohio, 10TV News reported.

Garrett could spend up to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana by flying it into Columbus.

In June, authorities said Garrett chartered a plane so he and Lisette Lee could fly 13 suitcases with 500 pounds of marijuana from Los Angeles to Port Columbus International Airport.

Lee, 29, has claimed to be an heiress to the Samsung Electronics fortune.

She was charged with drug trafficking and faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Garrett's plea deal does not require him to testify in the case.

The guy should have held out for an acquittal of the charges against the woman before he plead guilty. They can't make him testify anyway. If he says he did it and she had no knowledge, case closed.I mean he obviously isn't going to do anything to cause her any grief for whatever reason.Unless they have proof she had prior knowledge she s:peace:hould walk.
