Leaves Curling Up & Taco-ing With Rust Spots

Hey everyone,

I just noticed my plants don’t look as healthy as they did a few days ago. I’m growing in 8” Grodan Blocks placed on top of Grodan Grow Slabs with slits cut at the bottom to help water flow out. I have made some changes to my grow tent lately (5x5x6.5 tall) so I’m wondering if any of these are the culprits:

Bought new Lights- 2 Mars Hydro TSL2000, comparing to approximately a 500HPS bulb each. They are currently hanging close to 30” above the canopy on 2 of the plants and about 26” on 2 others. I went from an older Mars Hydro model that was barely putting out any light to 2 strong lights. I started by hanging them higher than instructed Incase the extra light intensity was too much. They recommend 18”- 24” during veg. They have been in the tent for only a week.

Started adding new nutrients to help with roots and extra b-vitamins to go along with the Advanced Nutrients Grow, Micro, Bloom, Calmag. Using right around 3/4 strength nutes.

Added 2 strong fans with airflow blowing above the canopy aiming closer to the lights to limit heat. Yes, the plants are still getting airflow on them too. It is currently sitting between 80-82 degrees when lights are on and about 70-72 with lights off and sits at about 55-60% humidity. Lowered the fan intensity to see if it helps so far it hasn’t.

Started watering twice daily to help increase yields. Same amounts each time. I always pick them up before watering to decide how much they need and they’re usually at the point that l they’re wanting to drink, but I don’t water as much if the blocks are feeling heavy.

Everything was going amazing, growth was night and day (plants almost doubled in size within a week after vegging under the older light for over a month) but now they are starting to look sketchy. Not too bad yet but trying to get it figured out before it worsens.

From what I’ve read it seems like a deficiency of some sort, overwatering or a light issue. Any help or info is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately I’m still waiting for a PH replacement my pen died a few days ago. I lowered the fans intensity yesterday to the lowest setting and raised them higher so they are barely touching the plants anymore when they’re blowing, but today seems worse than yesterday.

I’ve also increased the CalMag the last couple days and it doesn’t seem to be working either.

I realized I was using General Hydroponics CalMag so I recently switched to the Advanced Nutrients CalMag to match my nutes and keep it “PH Perfect”. I made the switch when I added the new lights about a week ago. Maybe I should go back to the GH CalMag?

Yea I figured it would work better but since then they’ve sorta gone downhill. The lights are a little closer together than I’d like but space has me sort of limited, could too much light intensity from the 2 lights combined be making it do that?
From what I’ve read it doesnt really look like a light issue, but it’s my first time with more powerful lights
