left confused after TWO separate hair follicle tests showing positive after over 4 mo

SWIM was left confused after taking two separate hair follicle tests at the request of their lawyer. They were a daily concentrate smoker, and had undergone high CBD doses for melanoma skin cancer, hoping to aid in a natural extermination of the cancerous cells. Long story short this person was caught with concentrates and is being subjected to the law. Their lawyer requested a hair follicle test. They have done plenty of research and had many conversations with the lab specialists, and have been assured that after 3 months, use should not be showing up (add two weeks since the last sesh so the hair can grow out of the root). It has been over 4 months since their last time to smoke, and the MRO is still calling to report a positive result on the hair follicle test. SWIM is in good shape, has average metabolism and is in their lower 20s (yes a 20ish year old cancer survivor as well). The question is could the fact that they used concentrates at a very high frequency, could the metabolites continue to be deposited beyond 2-3 weeks beyond cessation of use. Another confusing aspect is another substance that was a one time use was still found, yet their daily ADD prescription for adderall did NOT show up. The test did not deliver levels of detection, only positive and negative. Can anyone help shed some light here? they are very confused by these results, as they have occurred TWO times in the past two weeks. the first test did show the prescription use, yet the second test did not. What is wrong here? SWIM has now paid for two separate tests, only to waste their money. The test was done by QUEST diagnostics. Anyone have similar experiences? they also offered (The MRO at QUEST) to send the same specimen to a different lab for a "retest". The collection place said that this is unusual for them to offer a re test at a different lab, for a higher price than the initial test. the re test was offered both times.

FRUSTRATING OR WHAT?! During the second test at the collection lab, they even took a shorter specimen than was requested for a 90 day hair follicle test... the sample was UNDER 1.5inches, yet it is still showing use. SWIM's hair grows significantly fast as well.

Re: left confused after TWO separate hair follicle tests showing positive after over

The thc metabolites are going to show up in your hair until the hair is gone. So retesting hair is a complete waste of time ecspecially if they are not using a GC/MS confirmation test. When trying to get clean for a court ordered or doctors drug test always insist on a GC/MS test.
Hair tests are a terrible way to test if a patient is stopping use of cannabis. A blood test is always the most accurate as long as they use GC/MS confirmation test.
Clearly the doctor and the lawyer does not have a basic understanding of testing for drugs.
The rate at which people get clean from THC varies wildly depending on a lot of different factors. Liver and kidney function, metabolism, bowel movements are just some of them. If he's got cancer then he probably has health problems that are going to effect drug tests.
Just a normal healthy user of cannabis will take a month to even start to get clean because thats how long it takes for fat cells to die off and thats where THC goes to die. And all kinds of factors can lengthen that amount of time. And the more fat you have the longer it will take. If you don;t have good bowel movements that can really increase the time to get clean because 80% of your THC metabolites exit through the intestines. And if they stay there very long they start getting absorbed by the body and whole process starts all over again.

Tell him to move to a medical cannabis state. And tell him to use cannabis oil salves on the melanoma directly. Thats how he's going to get the best benefit from cannabis.
Its still a real crap shoot with using cannabis for cancers. Some react well with high CBD strains some react better with some higher THC strains. Still decades of research ahead to find what strains work best against what.
