Good morning 420. Today it’s raining here in the U.K. so that means I get the day off and plenty of time for gardening and journal surfing, I’ve got some serious catching up to do!

Firstly my time in my grow spot is rapidly coming to an end and I’ve got no option but to flip the four remaining plants. I know it’s probably going to be unbearably hot over the next two months but it’s either have a go or cull them. The plants don’t look too bad considering the very little attention I’ve given them, stems aren’t as thick as I like but each plant has a fat healthy root ball. I’m hoping if I can keep the canopy low the fan and plenty of frozen bottles might help out when the temps rise. Last run I couldn’t keep the fan oscillating as I ran out of space and the two plants not getting any breeze really suffered.

Over the last 3 days I’ve started to throw a few my seeds into soak to test them for viability. Mixed results so far but I have been using mostly the odd shaped or immature beans first so I’m not reading too much into it. The seeds from the Chocolatina mother are worrying me the most though as after breaking a few open they don’t look the best and very dry inside compared to beans from the Wedding Cake mother.

Here are 3 Wedding Cake beans recently soaked. They seem to have very strong shells I’m not sure if that’s good or bad but at least they’re viable. I’m going to continue my testing and I’ll report back hopefully with some better results.

Good morning 420. Quick update on the garden, plants are looking ok and the temps aren’t that high at the moment so I can’t complain. I think I may have dodge a bullet this morning though, the bucket I keep the air stones that aren’t being used ran dry causing the air stones actually being used in the DWC buckets to stop working. Luckily no harm done but shows how much attention I’ve been paying to the grow room! Yesterday I took delivery of some hydro supplies which included a fresh bottle of CalMag. I’ve been buying my nutes in 5 litre bottles which can save quite bit of cash and the dreaded plastic but recently I feel I’ve not been getting the results I’d expect from the old Calmag. I’ve used the last of it now but compared to the fresh batch it’s was very dark and the bottom of the container was full of scale. Think I’ll keep buying the CalMag in smaller quantities from now on. Tomorrow I’ll give them all a fresh res each just waiting on the chlorine to clear from some tap water. Here are some pics and check out the size of my new air stones! Lol

Still having mixed results from some of the seeds I’ve bred. Yesterday I popped three of the Wedding Cake x Cheap Trick crosses. I probably won’t be growing any of these out. Just testing at the moment and trying to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Hey 420, how’s everyone enjoying their weekend? I woke up with a stinking hangover yesterday after a great night out with the boys on Friday. Couldn’t face the garden so I’ve been up early this morning giving the girls a fresh res each. They are now switched to bloom nutes containing,
40 ml Bloom nutes
30 ml silicon
40 ml CalMag
10 ml Beneficial Bacteria
EC 14
Ph 5.7
So far so good with the temps and the plants are looking much better this time although I did lose a main branch off of the Guicy Banger whilst tying her down.

100% - that’s a pass. We are encouraged.
The WCxCT I popped is currently in soil and testing my awesome patience with its invisibility!
Timing-wise I had just started a trial method of breaking the dormancy in some >10yo+ seeds. That is going nowhere again for now so I’ll be sweeping that aside in favour of these new devillians.
The prospect of real health benefits modified with a good old dose of ICan’tFeelMyFace is getting real.

Midweek update as there is lots happening in the garden at the moment. The flower room is starting to bloom. We’ve had a couple of hot days but shouldn’t be too much of problem as the forecast looks to be getting cooler over the next week. Apart from a mishap with the oscillating fan rubbing on Crumbled Lime twin 2 the plants don’t look bad

A couple of days ago I moved the sprouting beans i had soaking into rooters using some tips I picked up from @MrSauga’s fantastic journal. Planting the seeds the correct way up helps the seedling shed it’s casing and I can confirm it works a treat.
Here are some pictures from this morning just before work. You can see how the seedlings are folding up out of the rooter causing the casing to rub off as it stretches for the light.

I was pleasantly surprised when I checked as soon as I got home from work. They’re not hanging about and no annoying helmets to pick off with my clumsy fingers!

I said I wasn’t going to grow any of these out but I just cant bring myself to cull them so I’m going to put them in the veg tent and see if I can get them to flower with a very short veg time.

Be nice to see how the bud turns out even if it’s only a few ounces. I’ve got the veg tent not being used so I’ve put them in there under an LED as they are getting a bit leggy under natural light.

You’re welcome buddy. I’ve not taken much care in the past when popping seeds but after a bad run I thought it best to look at my technique and the tips from your journal are already paying dividends.

This morning I managed to grab 30 mins in the garden before work so I prepped for tomorrow’s res changing and then got to work with some defoliation. I only had time to finish one plant but hey it’s a start it’s like a jungle in there! I’m much happier this run as I think the heat was already affecting the previous plants at this stage whereas these are looking close to where I’d expect them to be. Here are some pictures.

After a pretty hectic week it’s time to relax with a cold beer and a few dabs. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hey 420, hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. This morning I spent a few hours in the grow room finishing off some defoliation and then gave them a res change each. Normally I wait a day or two after a stripping before giving fresh nutes but my daughter is coming to stay for the week and I might not get chance otherwise. They should be fine. Loads of bud sites, could be a decent run.

In the veg tent the three seedlings got an upgrade from a bowl of orbeez into their own buckets. I’ve hit them with some nutes fairly early.

These are Pheno Finders Seeds Wedding Cake x Exotic Genetix Cheap Trick and the first of my home made strains to be grown out. One of my mates came up with the name Pretty Women and it’s sort of stuck. So here we have 3 Pretty women.......I hope there aren’t any males!
