Lewydeville’s Six Strain DWC

Been a busy day so far, cleaning, moving and fixing things in the flower tent. I didn’t mention my spec at the start of this journal so here’s a little run down of my gear. I use a 600 watt Hps and a Mars Hydro 640 watt pro cree during flower. I run these alongside an 8 inch extraction fan, 4 inch intake fan, 3 inch passive intake and a oscillating fan to keep things moving and cool. After the first 3 weeks of flower I introduce a dehumidifier to get Rh as close to 35 as I can. I would love to upgrade to full LED soon as I get much better results from that side of the tent.

I’ve moved all six plants into their own buckets. So I’ll give them a day to get use to the new lights and then stretch them out with some wire. Probably going to flip to 12/12 in two weeks at the latest as temperatures are starting to rise.

Hope everyone is having a great 420 weekend. I know I am!!

Looks good in there. Hopefully it will fill up in no time. Bet that press is the perfect thing for a good 420 lol

Thanks Cookie I’ve been completely blazed since I bought it! Way too much fun. Hope you’re having a good one mate.

Update
Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I’ve been flat out at work and all my spare time has been taken up with my rosin obsession! o_O
Don’t worry though as my plants have been looking shit so you’ve not missed anything!
I have taken pictures over the last 10 days so I’ll be able to show what’s been happening.
So a day or so after I moved the plants to their own buckets I started to see deficiencies in all plants. I really couldn’t understand how this was happening as I already run high levels of calmag, ph was good and I was 100% sure they had enough nutes. I started to think I may have mixed up my nute bottles and made a mistake somehow. I also checked my roots throughly for any signs of problems but all looked well. Here are some pictures of the plants looking pretty rough.

Under normal circumstances I would have started again and given them a fresh res change but I’m waiting on my beneficial bacteria to be delivered and with temps rising decided to try and fix the problem until I’m able to start a fresh. I upped the calmag, in fact I nearly doubled it to 6 ml a litre which seems so high but within a day things hadn’t got any worse. Two days later they really picked up and that brings us to today. They are not perfect but back on the right track.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

I had a go at isolating the THCa from some rosin I made with my Fruit Spirit last week. I’m well cuffed with the results. Here are some pictures of the fairly easy process. Any questions just ask.

It’s very potent and might be responsible for my lack of updates!

Managed to grab an hour in the garden tonight. I’m really pleased with how the plants have responded and looked pretty good so I went ahead and started to get them ready for flowering. I’m going to give them until Saturday at least but fingers crossed I’ve got these worked out now and with temperatures rising fast I want to get them flipped sooner rather than later.

So that was before the trim session.

Now that's a buzz cut for sure. Really blows me away to see such a heavy trim. And I'm scared to cut off a half dozen leaves at a time. Great watch'in this, keep it up. :thumb:

Got to be a hard plant to live in my garden. lol
I would of liked to have let the Sorbet Dream go but think it would of impede the other plants. Would of made a pretty plant though.

Nice save lewy. Shows how cal mag does play such a big role in rdwc. Happy days.
Loving the rosin pics. Is it heated or purely pressure that milks it so well.?

Cheers GD, I’m loving making the rosin it’s so much fun. It’s the heat and the pressure that makes the rosin run. A change in temperature will give you a different end product.
Low temps = budder/butter rosin
high temps = shatter.

Makes sense. Is the heat within the press or do you add it other ways ( pre heat) curious as to how it works. ( d.i.y buff here)

I love the way you strip them down Lewy. Its awsome to see what they can handle and I honestly think about your plants when I'm giving mine a trim, it puts me at ease lol. Gotta ask about the plants that are split, is there a benefit to not taping them back together? And do you do it on purpose?

Thanks Cookie. To be honest this grow hasn’t gone as smooth as I would of liked. I ripped two plants in half at the start of training and I think I probably should of moved them to their separate buckets earlier as I would of got more info on what each plant wanted. They are on the right track now though and once you’ve got a nice thick structure it’s hard to slow them down. I don’t intentionally split the main trunk (although it does happen to most of my plants) but I don’t worry in the slightest as it creates a fat knuckle. If I split a branch off in flower I will use some tape then.

The press plates have heating elements inside but I’ve seen all sorts of diy set ups including using the wife’s hair straighteners!! Lol. There are some great rosin threads in the concentrate section if you are interested. Knowing what I know now I would of built one years ago! You need rosin in your life GD get the tools out!!

Love it.lol thanks for the info. Will head there. Been weed head for 30 odd years and have still not tried rosin. Love watching it made and set. Imagine it's a head banger like hot knifing hash years ago ?. Would love to try some too.
Loving the journal mate

The flavour is out of this world mate. It really is better than the hype. I’m sure there must be a technique that allows you to collect small amounts so you can try. I’ll see what I can find on the net. Glad you’re enjoying the journal.

Mrs Flora said that I'm allowed to use her hair straighteners but they're tiny and don't have a heat setting. Looks amazing Lew! I so want one. Maybe in a few years the quality presses will come down in price or someone will release a cheaper one. For now children are eating my cash lol. Hope your well bud

I know that feeling mate, I’ve got four of them. My two youngest are nearly 3 and 4 years, then 12 and my eldest is nearly 22. They get more expensive every year they get older!!. I’ve seen some people on YouTube get decent results smashing single nugs with straighteners. I tried with the misses ghd’s a couple of years ago but I definitely didn’t press for long enough and couple that with the thought of what my misses would do if I broke them I gave up on it. Worth a shot though because you’d love it mate, especially with all the different strains you’ve got. It’s so good!
