The 134a should work... when it is in liquid form it will disolve the oils into the refigerant and pass them through whatever filter you use... seperating the two... Completely? As good as Butane? Im not sure... It should work... if there arent any chemicals in the mix that when in liquid form can mix with the oils... this could be bad... also concentrated.

refrigerant has an oil in it to lube the system in the A/C unit does not sound like the hot set up to me.
