Man your grow really looks awesome I look at your pics and just wish my plants would look like yours. Dont get me wrong Mine smokes real good but ive never gotten any resin packed buds like that yet.

Thanks for chiming in. Thanks for the props. This is my stickiest grow yet.. Ive ceased to touch anything 30 inches away from the light cuz the trichomes are everywhere all over the stems and everything im going to make a nice little batch of hash with the trimmings. Starting get funky in there for sure. Id love to see a journal of yours. You should start one.

~~~~UPDATE~~~~

Well I planned on being on yesterday and navigate the forums and just do a little of this and that and than an update. Well, on my bike ride back from the gym, I got hit by a car. I'm ok but you should see the bike lol. I got some pretty bad bruises but no broken bones. after i got back to the house from that one. Anyways today was day 40 for the ladies. They're looking real frosty and getting real pungeant. I'm thinking a new carbon filter here in another grow probably. Got a hint of ganja billowing out of the tent hehe. So, I'm noticing that I am going to have an army of popcorn buds marching across my sheers. I didn't do the greatest lolipopping on these ladies. The underbrush was a complete JUNGLE. I did do a lot of pruning but I still left in quite a few buds that aren't looking so large N in charge. I think I might cut all of the top branches in the canopy and leave the lower buds to ripen a bit more for a few days. Any suggestions on that? Also, for future reference, can I get some advice on the best time to lollipop and prune for the best yield without sacrificing valuable growth time? I am also about planning flushing here soon. I was planning on flushing probably day 50, and harvesting day 62-64. Both strains are supposed to be 8-9 weekers. Any thoughts on how I should flush the system? I have clearex, but should I use it, or just use plain RO water?

You got to give me a good smoke report. I have been considering getting that strain. I have had alot of luck with strains with the word pineapple and chunk lol.

So i had already harvested the Pineapple Chunk from the seed in soil, Along with 2 Lemon Skunks and an Exodus cheese from greenhouse. I had told Stevehman early that Out of the 3 the pineapple was the best overall. Great taste, high was very nice too. He and I both have concluded that the Pineapple Chunk is a super sticky strain. Its some great stuff but then again it was just a tad premature, this time i will give a full report on a fully ripened crop. Also, if interested my exodus cheese seed, the buds smelledlike blueberry muffins and had an equivilant taste, more of a smooth, mellow high though.

I'm not exactly sure if I know what youre asking, but if its how often I run the air pump/drip ring in the waterfarm, i just followed the instructions that came with the unit: 30 mins on, 60 mins off. One cycle in the middle of the night. If thats not what you meant let me know.

Flushing on day 50 is way too early for hydro. It might be good for dirt but for hydro its best to reduce nutes on the last week or use the ripen stage for mixing nutes. When you flush with hydro its best to use a flushing solution and flush for 1 to 2 hours for maintenance flushes to remove salt and mineral buildup and flush 1 to 2 days when your ready to harvest. The flushing solution leaches the salt right out of the plant and you don't need to adjust ph when you flush. Its as simple as that.
Pruning depends on the grower. You can cut the plant all the way up to the 3rd week of flower and you can remove fanleaves almost anytime to open bud sites. Bud in direct light grows better than the bud thats covered under a fanleaf. Just remember not to go overboard because the plants growth slows in the later weeks of flower and won't produce anymore leaves. Also, the more budsites that are open the smaller the buds might become. Pruning takes a lil practice and some trial and error, sorry if that sounds confusing but it can be a yingyang type of thang.

Thanks Mr. Smith, good thing I asked or i'd probably be getting some underdeveloped plants. And yea the only thing that messes with me on pruning is the growth slow for a the couple days, but thats better than a million lil pennie sized but in the underbrush.. Ill get it soon here...

It wouldn't slow growth but you will have less yellowing towards the end of the grow. Alot of people overflush for no reason. flushing is for maintenance and to remove salts from the plant so its not as harsh when smoked. This can sometimes make a big difference with some strains.
As for pruning and trimming, everybody has slightly different opinians and you just try to do what's best for your grow style and grow area, just try not to cut branches after the 4th week because there might be a good chance your wasting bud. Stripping bottom growth is best done within the 2nd or 3rd week but I have have done it late and it didn't seem to effect the plant much.

I have to say, I agree with almost everything Mr. Smith says, the only thing I would add is that pruning leaves in general is a little bit of a controversial topic. There are still a number of good growers that only remove leaves when they're already dying, for example. I used to be that way. I still prefer to tuck leaves sometimes (they provide valuable energy for the plant and bud development). Having said that I am going to try pruning more on future grows and have already done a bit more in my last grow.

There are also some really good growers that trim and prune excessively - to each their own!

I agree 100% with Mr. Smith - doesn't take much time to flush in hydro.

I don't do a flush at all, just 50% nutes the last week. I don't know if it is a nutrient specific result though. The well-seasoned budtender at my dispensary says they taste great and asked me how I finish them. He was amazed when I told him I don't do a flush. He and the two other BTs all tried the P-chunk, none could even taste a hint of nutes in the smoke.

I do trim up the lower branches and remove some of the fan leaves that cover the bud sites, but I am very conservative when I trim. I was checking out 420fied's SOG grow and he strips them of almost all the fan leaves on day 21 and I think 43 of bloom. He has very good results. Maybe on one of my next grows I can do a test of trimming effects, since I have my experiment-box set up, it provides a pretty good test bed for doing these types of comparisons. I'll have to add that to my list of tests to run.
