Wisconsin - A major drug bust in Green Bay led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man and the seizing of hundreds of marijuana plants.

James Monahan was arrested Friday and will make his first court appearance on Tuesday. He faces a handful of charges including possession, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and manufacturing with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school

This investigation was a team effort with other police agencies. It started when the Shawano County Sheriff's Department recently found out about an indoor marijuana grow in the Gresham area. Deputies discovered more than a hundred plants at a residence there

They worked with the Department of Justice and teamed up with the Brown County Drug Task Force to link that operation to a marijuana grow at a home on the 300- block of North Ashland Avenue in Green Bay.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department says there were 599 marijuana plants, all at various stages of growth.

It's unclear how long this drug operation had been going on. Officers with the drug task force told us, though, it was a complete grow operation with lights and filters.

"I think our narcotics investigators, this is a lot of the work they do. Just working on tips and leads and in this case, they came up with a significant find," Lieutenant Scott Semb, Brown County Sheriff's Department, said.

During the search, officers also found a video surveillance system and a loaded hand gun.
