Man Claims Pot To Keep Pregnant Girlfriend Out Of Jail

A 26-year-old Crestview man was arrested on charges of marijuana possession after telling officers he owned the bag of pot found in his vehicle Oct. 16, a Crestview Police Department arrest report said.

Officers responded to a disturbance call where they found a pregnant woman at her residence who had been arguing with the baby's father, the report said.

The woman said the argument began when she told the man she was concerned for the welfare of the child and wanted to know his intentions for providing care, the report said.

The officer was given per-mission from the woman to search the vehicle and found a small bag of marijuana from under the front right passenger seat, the report said.

When the officer asked the man about the marijuana the man first denied it was his, but then said he would claim it if it kept his girlfriend from going to jail, the report said.
