A Statesville man digested a bag of marijuana after being taken in front of a magistrate Thursday, according to arrest warrants.
Authorities in Davidson County have charged Michael Blaine Franks, 44, of 424 N. Center St., Apt. A, with felony destroy/alter/conceal/tamper with evidence and felony possession of controlled substance on prison/jail premises. Franks received $1,000 secured bonds for each charge.
Thursday, the Thomasville Police Department alleged Franks ate a bag of marijuana that was sitting on a desk after being taken in front of the magistrate. The total original weight of the marijuana was four grams, the arrest warrant stated.
Friday, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office alleged Franks had marijuana in his possession while being in the Davidson County Detention Center.
Franks is scheduled to appear Feb. 4 in Thomasville District Court and Jan. 20 in Lexington District Court.
