Mariguana Grow: 1st 420 Journal

She’s getting big(ger)!

What size pot is she in? That’s gonna be a lot of weight to manage come flowering.

Not clear by what you mean in dog house. An example would be appreciated. I think I know what your talking about but would like to hear more about hows you’d go about doing something like that without overheating, exhaust, etc.

Have you considered trying your hand at cobbing? Sweetsue runs or is at least heavily involved in a cobbing forum. It’s super fascinating. Usually you need a Sativa to make it work but def check it out.

Thanks!

To the Dog House question: the one I saw looked like a standard dog house. Think snoopy’s house. It had a plug and play solar panel attached. An exhaust in the upper part of the rear wall and ventilating right into a carbon filter connected by standard ducting. A slide door/Window for additional circulation and optional fan placement and pvc piping for water drainage. If I had a pic I’d share it. Maybe one exists online?

I’m familiar with cobbing. I may give it a try, honestly I have all I can do between growing, drying, and curing along with everything else going on. The plant I have should be at least Sativa dominant given that it’s not shorter and bushier. I’ll do some more looking into it and may possibly give it a go I just hate the idea of experimenting with weed that is on its own good. Some people like searching that new frontier, I’m not generally one of them. I’m old fashion. Grow it, smoke it, etc.

Getting taller and as of today she’s showing her pistils.

Looking good! Have you come up with any ideas as to how to mitigate your flowering? Not only is that going to be hard to control the stink, your gonna need a ladder to get to the top, I wish you the best for sure but you definitely got a hard road ahead, if you can do it and if it works out the way things seem on track for you’ll definitely be bringing in the dough but you’ll have a lot of stuff to overcome;
1. Mold
2. Bugs
3. Height
4. Odor
5. Nutrient management (may want to consider picking up the cal-mag, etc.) when you get closer to bloom).
6. Sheer Height

Any other state compliance requirements you may have to deal with and having what’s going to be tantamount to a tree idk how your to do it.

And then when Harvest comes which is a lifetime away your going to have to find a way to chop it, dry it and harvest it.

A plant/tree of that size probably won’t be done all at once. Probably a sectional clipping you’ll have to do but remains to be seen.

Good luck, brother!

Having to use my ingenuity I decided to go down to buy more head space. I dug a 4 foot deep hole, 3 feet wide to fit my 25 gallon smart pot and after careful planting the pot was moved into the hole. After some testing in raising the greenhouse with my current supplies I didn’t want to risk a catastrophic collapse so I made the decisions to go down. I have some tuning and tweaking to do but ultimately happy with my decision.

As everyone I’m sure is aware. Heat advisory through the weekend for dangerous heat. Well that goes for our plant friends too. My greenhouse got to 111 so I setup an exhaust on my security gate and covered the top of the greenhouse with an old tarp dropping temps by more then 20 degrees.

Quick picture update she seems happy and healthy. Have had to combat the hot weather, a bit of a challenge but definitely being able to mitigate via reduction by more then 20 degrees. No hot spots, canoing, etc.

Stinking more by the day! Mounted tarps behind over fence wall to protect from bright lights that seem to be going at night to minimize light stress, wind and as a bonus it provides a bit of insulation as we begin to see a slight cooling in temps with numbers fluctuating between 59 and 65 in the early morning hours. I use a digital and analog meter to ensure accuracy and the analog acts as a backup in case of power failure or some other electronic failure (I.e monitor damage). Anyway, happy with her and look forward to seeing what her end game will be and the journey to it. She’s bag seed of course so likely going to produce them also, but considering it’s essentially free to grow her minus a few setup costs.

On a side note. I’m considering experimenting with autos in hydro via aero garden but not a sure thing yet. Stay tuned.

Dragging out the watering slightly and closely monitoring. It’s good to let them struggle ever so slightly to bring out the most pungent odors. Will be a plain water feeding this go round. Getting brighter and bigger all the time. Using the next 30 days to get ready for flowering and all that. I don’t mention a lot of the data to avoid disagreements with other growers and allow the viewer to just enjoy the grow.

Looking excellent my friend!

Hello All,

Got some trimming and pruning done. Making some adjustments with the impending bloom season on the horizon.

Going to give her some time to heal and recoup. Plan for some transitional nutrients an Cal-Mag. Removed lower level leaves and miscellaneous bud sites so the plant can focus directly on bud sites at its primary locations.

Additionally, where she will become significantly more sensitive in bloom to avoid any potential aggravation. The green stake(s) will be moved outside of the plant between the pot and the ground and will be doubled up leaving the entirety of the soil to be free for the increasingly delicate eco-system.

A quick follow up to my previous post. I doubled up my stakes setting the 6 ft green fiberglass stakes out of the smart pot and into the ground between the pot and the inside of the hole.

This will also allow the stakes to follow the plant as it grows...at least for a little while.

As I observe my humidity rates at night skyrocket (ok, for now) I’ll have to begin thinking about how to drop that especially as we move into moister, wetter seasons. One such way will be to add circulation, structural modifications, add natural dehumidifiers, etc. will share specifics with you all as we get closer to that time.

Made some improvements to the housing by trading in traditional tarps for clear plastic covers that were folded and mounted to allow more light in at the bottom. Reinforced the cinderblocks and clean it up. Still a work in progress but this is a “so far” take on transitional development.

Hi All,

Temps are dropping here at night around low 50s. Insulating greenhouse with bubble wrap (which is a pain) and taking other reactive efforts to address the weather, learning as I go. Reading up as much as I can.
