Marijuana Grow House Bust In Madison County

Madison County, FL - Deputies in Madison County shut down what they're calling a "major" marijuana grow operation.

They made the bust Wednesday around 9 p.m.

Deputies say the operation was equipped with more than 30 indoor grow lights with automatic timers, automatic waters, carbon dioxide tanks, two 5 ton water pump units with 3 spares.

The grow operation had illegally installed two additional 200 amp electrical services, gaining electrical power above the electric meter.
The Drug Task Force seized more than 100 marijuana plants, valued over a quarter million dollars $250,000.00.

Arrested is 49 year old Jorge Rios of Hialeah, Florida. He is charged with Cultivating Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with intent to sell, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Theft of Utilities.

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that On Wednesday January 6, 2010, The Madison County Drug Task conducted an investigation that resulted in shutting down a major "in-door" marijuana growing operation.

This operation was well managed and sophisticated to the extent that upon entry in 24 degree weather the inside portion of the grow house was maintained at 92 degrees.

The "in-door" grow started as a double wide mobile home that was converted into an efficiency apartment with one bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The remainder of the mobile home was petitioned to contain the "in-door" grow.

This operation was equipped with over 30 indoor grow lights with automatic timers, automatic waters, carbon dioxide tanks, Two 5 ton water pump heat/cooling units with 3 spares. The "in-door" grow operation had illegally installed two additional 200 amp electrical services gaining electrical power above the electric meter to power the "in-door" grow equipment.

The Drug Task Force seized over 100 mature marijuana plants valued over $250,000.00 growing in this "in-door" grow and an additional ¼ pound of dried marijuana.

The Drug Task Force seized and destroyed all the equipment, soil and fertilizer used in the grow.

Arrested and charged: Cultivating Marijuana, Possession Marijuana with intent to sell, Possession Drug Paraphernalia, and Theft of Utilities.
