Marijuana Grown in Corn Fields

Ward says growers will grow the plant in their home until it is a certain size, then they take it to a corn field where they replant it. According to Ward it's extremely difficult to locate the person responsible for growing the marijuana discovered in a farmer's field.

"It's next to impossible... Unless you find some type of evidence like whether they've been drinking something. Like some kind of can or potting soil or something like that."

The State Police use a helicopter to fly over and spot patches of the drug from the air. Ward says 80% of the places they fly over in the post three area have some marijuana growing in them.

Ward says the trend of growing marijuana in corn fields is declining with the increase of methamphetamine.

Sounds like a decent idea, how safe it could be is questionable. Remember, they do this for a living, catching you is a game and a bigger paycheck.

Here in Indiana when the corn does its thing it takes out the nitrogen from the soil the same time the plant is budding. And it just loves it. I seen 14ft plants with main buds the size of your arm. They have a real problem with the animals eating away at the plants. especially when their young and tender. Some of the counties around have won awards for finding so many hybrid plants.

I remember once after putting out some 100 clones, a cop pulled us over and made us pour out our beer and sent us home... Whew!
